What's NEW for November?

We have lots going on in November so here's the scoop...

First, we are thrilled to introduce our November Guest Designer, Laura Williams.  You may know Laura from her gig with Card Positioning Systems or you may have seen her amazing work in some of your favorite magazines, either way, there is no denying Laura's got talent. :)  She also happens to be a precious friend of mine and I am so glad she is guest designing with us for November!

Here's a little bit about Laura in her own words:

Hi! My name is Laura Williams, and I am so happy to spend the next month here with Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps! In fact, this is my second time as a guest designer at SNSS. . .the first time was in November of 2009. (That totally seems like a million years ago!) I never know just what to write when I'm asked to share a bio. . .so instead, I'll share 3 random facts about myself. Are you ready?

1. I live in a house full of boys. One grownup boy (the hubs) and two fast-growing little ones (a seven-year-old, and a three-year-old.) I love living in a house full of boys, but my goal in life is to one day have a girls-only bathroom. (Yes, that means I get it all to MYSELF.)

2. I went to college to become an art teacher. But after I did my internship in an elementary art classroom, and said, “Hmmm, funny how this is NOT what I want to do after all.” Despite that, I love teaching, I love art, and I love kids. After graduating, I spent a few years teaching second and third grade, before my kiddos were born. And I loved it.

3. I have complete conversations with my husband while I sleep, and I don’t remember them in the morning. I do bizarre crazy stuff, and he has learned to discredit anything I say or do after 11pm. One of his favorite stories involves me diving under the covers to escape a giant purple spider.

There are a million more random facts I could share, but I'll spare you! I'm excited to share some projects with you all month long, here on the Sweet 'N Sassy blog! I'd love for you to come by my blog, at www.lauralooloo.blogspot.com.

Laura, thanks for hanging out with us this month.  I know you're going to knock our socks off!

Wanna know what else is going on in November??

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is turning 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you'll join us tomorrow right here on the SNSS Blog for a fun Blog Hop featuring the DT's favorite stamp sets.  Not only will you see some amazing eye candy, but you'll also be able to purchase these sets at 25% off!!!!  How fun is that?? :)

We have a fabulous birthday bash sale planned for each week, plus other surprises, too, so be sure to visit our blog and website often throughout the month!  You won't want to miss a thing!!!

See you tomorrow!!!!

Comforting Words of Jesus

Good morning! Gloria with you today! This is my fifth and final week of being the October Guest Designer for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps! I used the Words of Jesus set for my final card.

I love scripture stamps, and this is a beautiful Word in a lovely font.

I stamped the sentiment, then cut it out with a die template. While the paper was still in the die, I sponged chalk into over it. I love the blue and green combination of the paper, so I added more with ribbons, flowers, and pins. I colored the pins with Copic markers.

Here is a view of the inside. I used a diamond die cut shape to mimic the diamonds on the paper. These are a set of nesting dies from Spellbinders.

I hope you enjoyed my guest posts this month! I have had such fun being part of the Sweet 'n Sassy team this month and I am very sad to say good-bye! I hope I get asked back again sometime! A special thanks to Korin for having me!

Warm Hello

Hi there and thanks for stopping by! It's Ceal here to share with you.
We had a couple days of snow here in Colorado last week so I just had to ink up this stamp. The set I used is  Warm Hello for my card. I just love snowmen and this is one of my favorites.
I made this one for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges going on this month at SplitCoast Stampers. I hope you are playing along for this great cause.

A Few of My Favorite Things...

I have had the honor and joy of serving on the Sweet 'n Sassy Design Team for the past year but, very sadly, this is my last official post.  As we all know, life often has surprising and exciting new plans for us and with the changes in my life, I simply do not have the time to give my Sweet 'n Sassy cards the focus that they deserve.

I love Sweet 'n Sassy stamps and wanted to give you a few samples of what I so love.

First, Rhubarb and Cocoa...two of my favorite  characters!!  Here's Rhubarb all dressed up for Christmas!!  Santa Rhubarb can be found in Rhubarb's Christmas clear set.  Cocoa is an absolutely charming mouse with his own line of stamps.

Second, Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps do cute well, but they also have a variety of lovely and elegant stamps.  Here's a sample using Autumn Collage with a background using Friendship Script and a few elements from Vintage Postcard

Third...Christian stamps!!  Many of their stamps, such as Our Refuge as used on the next sample, are beautiful enough to stand alone.  There are also a large array of gorgeous florals and birds and wedding and baby sets and more, each of which includes Christian sentiments in the set.

I do love Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and they will continue to be an important part of my own card making! I look forward to each monthly release to see what I can add to my personal stash!!

With love and prayers,

Kim Singdahlsen

Recycled holiday card...

Hello! It's Monika here today, bringing you a vintage style holiday card, using recycled materials.
I love using corrugated paper, and I usually make my own. You only need a card board box that has a corrugated layer.
Just cut the size you need and peel off the top layer. Done!
It does look a bit rough, but it just adds to the vintage/weathered look.

I also recycled a tissue paper that came in a gift bag, and cut some doilies out of it. You can cut a number of layers all at once.

As you can see, to add more texture to my card, I also used felt and lace.
The main panel is a small envelope (Tim Holtz-Pocket Envelope die), that can hold a gift card or a tag. I just cut the side flap off.
It is stamped with Music Background and Holiday Baubles clear stamp sets.
After I stamped the little ornaments, first I went over them with my VersaMark pen, then I poured Psychedelic embossing powder on top and heat embossed the images.
To add even more sparkle to my card, I went around the edges with Stickles (glitter glue).

The sketch came from The Sweet Stop, SSS182. Hope you will play along with the Sugar Babies this week!

Thanks for stopping by,
Monika

Giving Thanks

Hello, Jennie here with a clean and simple card using Leaf Silhouettes.  I love the solid leaf images in this set and have used this set over and over again the past couple of months. It is certainly my go-to fall stamp set this fall.

For this card, the leaves were stamped in fall colors and the placement of the sentiment balanced out the trio of leaves.  To add a bit of interest, I punched the top left corner with a corner rounder punch.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Blessings,

Seek Him Still....

Good morning!

I have a couple of cards to share with you today that I made with Dina's new Seek Him Still stamp set - I just love this set!  The images are beautiful and the sentiments - classic!  For my first card, I stamped the large image on kraft card stock trimmed it out and then crumpled it up, shading the wrinkled spots lightly with chalk ink.  The sentiment was stamped on a die cut and tucked under the lace trim.

My next card is rather CAS - I stamped the sentiment in chocolate ink and the star in blue/green ink on the tag die and layered it on the card with a bit of a seam binding ribbon and ceramic rose to embellish the tag just a bit.

How are you Christmas cards coming?  I've been slowing adding to my stash over the past few months but have lots more to make.  If you haven't purchased this set yet, consider adding it to your collection.  I know I'm glad I have it in mine!

Have a great day!
Jessica

A Merry Christmas Candle

Hello, it's Bridget here today with a card using one of my favorite Sweet 'n Sassy Christmas sets, Christmas Light.  Actually, it's one of my favorite Christmas sets ever!
Maybe it's because candles, especially scented ones which give the whole house a gorgeous aroma of berries, spices, and evergreen, give us so much joy over the holiday season during the dark winter nights!
I love coloring the candle image and this time I used Crystal Glaze on the candle and the berries, though it's impossible to tell in my photo!  It does add dimension and shine, even giving the little berries a round shape!
I always choose my dp's first, then lay my stamped image right near them so that I can match up my coloring,  keeping my copic color chart near by too, so it's easier to get close to the same hues and shades.
I sponged the edges of the dp a little with distress ink before stitching them.  The square has been sponged while still in the Nestie with several distress inks.
Whatever you're doing this Sunday, I wish you a day full of blessing!
Supplies include:
Spellbinders Nestabilities Sqaures Large
Cosmo Cricket dp
October Afternoon dp
Ranger Distress Antique Linen, Scattered Straw, Frayed Burlap dp
Stampin Up Soft Suede ink
Memento Tuxedo Black in
Paper Mill Shop Cream Linen card stock
Sewing machine
Copics
Buttons
Ribbon

Pretty Poinsettias

Happy Saturday to you all!  I hope you've had a wonderful week.  My card sample for today uses the newly released clear stamp set Poinsettias.  When I was very young, I would sit for hours with my crayons and coloring books...I still love coloring to this day.  I decided to get out those crayons again and play!

The background was made by melting red, pink, and white crayons on a hot iron and swiping the iron across a piece of glossy card stock.  The postcard sentiment from the Vintage Postcard set was stamped in Archival Ink and the whole panel embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  After stamping the poinsettias several times, a white crayon was used to add highlights to each of the petals.  Distress inks were then sponged over the leaves and petals.  The wax of the crayon resisted the inks leaving white highlights.  Some of the poinsettias were cut out and popped up giving the card dimension.  The layout used for my card was the sketch challenge this week over at Splitcoaststampers.  Hope you like my card and feel encouraged to take out those crayons and have some fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by...have a blessed day!

Hugs,
Cathymac

Dream Big

Hi everyone!  Kim here with a card for you today that features the whimsical floral design from the Dream Big stamp set.

I love this large image as it can be used in so many ways...the whole image, just a portion, monotone with one of the great sentiments, included in the set, stamped over the image. I love possibilities!!

The flowers are colored with Copics and after attaching a second butterfly (for some dimension don't ya know) I added a few rhinestone flower centers for a little bling.
Enjoy today's card and remember to dream big!!

Our blog hop winner is JUDY JACKSON!!

Congrats, Judy!  Please contact me at "korinstamps at comcast dot net" to claim your prize!

We Wish You...

Happy Wednesday!!
It's Makiko and I am very exctied to post here for the first time! I love all of the October Release (who doesn't like Christmas?) but Christmas Penguins was my must-have. (Again, who doesn't like penguins? lol)
I decided to create this Christmas card with using just one image and sentiment from the set. The image was just stamped 3 times and colored with Copic markers. I changed the color patterns for each present and trimmed around the images to adhere on the card. I die cut with one of the Lacey Eyelet Border dies for the border and adhered the sentiment piece. To finish off, I dressed the rhinestoned on the sentiment tag.

Happy Creating!

Maki

Merry Christmas

Hello my friends! Giovana here with a very "Clean and Simple" Christmas card. I used the set "Poinsettia" for this card, love the image very much.
The card base is  Kraft Cardstock, then cut a panel from White cardstock, added Gold Star Washi Tape at the bottom,  stamped the sentiment in Black Ink, then adhered the panel to card base.
The Poinsettia was stamped on White Cardstock and colored with Copic Markers, then cut out the image, add some Pop dots and added it to card panel.
As a final touch I added few pearls and Gold tinsel around.

Hope you like it!
Giovana

A Snowy Old-Fashioned Christmas

I am sure that you have all enjoyed the new release festivities over the last few days!  I had so much fun with the new set Old-Fashioned Christmas that I had a card for the blog hop and the VSD at splitcoaststampers and I STILL have one more card to show you today!

I stamped the image and then restamped it for the trees in the background.  Then I used a white mist and a sparkly mist to make it snowy!!  Not everybody loves snow but this sleigh ride would be my dream come true (as long as I had a warm blanket, fuzzy gloves and a VERY hot chocolate!)

Have a great weekend,

Poinsettia Season's Greetings

Hello! It's Monika here today, bringing you a Christmas card. I hope you hopped with us yesterday during our Release and Virtual Stamp Day. I had so much fun seeing all the holiday cards, that I just had to make another one.

I decided to use Poinsettia clear stamp set. (The flower is also available in digital format!). I haven't been up to coloring lately, so I wanted to do something that didn't require a lot of precise coloring. I love to add stamped dimensional images/embellishments to my cards, so that is what I did...

I stamped the flower image on green card stock (1 time) and book pages (3 times) with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I cut them out, and added a light layer of pink with Copic Markers. The letters did smear a tiny bit, but it just added to the worn look of the flower.

The cutting wasn't too hard, plus I love doing it. So while I was watching my favorite show, I cut the layers out. I added some Stickles to the card. One of the challenges from our Virtual Stamp Day is to make your card sparkle (SNSSOCT12RP4) so I think this will work.

(The inspiration for my card came from HERE and HERE.)

The challenges (see HERE) are open until Monday, so make sure you stop by and play along with us!

You might have seen this card on SplitcoastStampers couple of days ago:

...again, I didn't want to color, so I stamped the flower image on colored card stock and cut the layers out.
There are so many different materials you could use... vellum, fabric... hope you will give it a try today!

Happy Stamping!
Monika
