A Mixed Up Valentine Critter

Hello Everyone!

Well, we are at the end of January (where did the time go??) and it seems that much of the country continues to be bouncing in and out of cold snaps and snow.  I hope you are staying warm where you are!
With February comes Valentine's Day.  My card today is actually for my twenty something son, who seems to finally have found his way in this thing called life.  No matter how old they get, you never stop worrying or loving.
Seeing as this is a guy card, I took the mixed media approach and grunged it up~

This absolutely adorable image is from the Valentine Critters Stamp Set by Diane Zechman.  I found watercoloring to be a great coloring medium to get some fun texture on the dog fur.
My background panel is multiple layers of mediums to achieve the depth as well as texture in the final product.  Beneath layers of acrylic paint and gesso are two Sweet 'n Sassy images, Grunge Elements and Music Background.  I stamped the sentiment from the Valentine Critters set directly onto the mixed media panel using Ranger Archival Black ink. You can get a list of supplies used to maked this mixed media card on my blog
Don't forget about the Friday Feature Special, which is Script Birthdays through January 30, and the chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the store when you play in our new Friday Feature Challenge.  Then there is the  Going, Going Gone Sale where you can snag some fabulous sets at 50% off.  Hurry over-when they are gone, they are gone!

Thank you so much for visiting; stay warm and have a blessed week!

Hey, I have the same twenty-something son! Hard not to continually worry. Your card is just wonderful. I like the different textured elements. It's time I try my hand at something like this too...
