Tuesday Tutorial - Weathered Wood

Tuesday Tutorial - Weathered Wood

Esther recently created this monochromatic sea themed card using cardboard and paint to create a super cool weathered wood background. She often uses cereal or cracker boxes for this fun technique. You can find her mini tutorial below.

Here's how Esther created her weathered wood background:

~ Cut a piece of cardboard to size (Esther's was 5.5" x 4.25") and score lines every 1/2 inch

~ Paint over your cardboard with white school glue

~ While the glue is still tacky to touch, paint over it with your choice of acrylic paint (Keep your paint thin and don't add too many layers or the cracks won't show up when it's dry.)

~ Allow to air dry or use your heat gun to speed up the process

~ Re-score your lines

~ Using sandpaper, lightly sand off the paint in spots and rough up the edges
