Surrounded in Prayer

Hi Friends! 

Hi Friends! Today I have more projects (CAS to more complex) for you using the same stamp set. Today I am using Surrounded in Prayer which is a great stamp set AND it is for a cause..

My first project is a clean and simple card. I used the sentiment and ribbon from the Surrounded in Prayer set then, to frame it, I used a short border stamp from the Hymn Block set. It is so fun when you are able to use those little stamps from one set on project after project and in different ways! Do you have some sets you can stretch?

Recipe :

• Paper – Neenah Solar White card stock
• Image – Surrounded in Prayer and Hymn Block
• Ink – Stamped image with Gina K Amalgam Ink And Copics (RV02, RV04, RV06, RV17)
• My background paper is cut with an AJVD rectangle die and Spellbinders Square Die

My Second project is a mixed media art journal page in my 6x6 disc bound journal. This one has a fun layer that make me smile out loud! I found a free copy of Amazing Grace online, printed it and used gel medium to adhere it to my journal page (I put gel medium under it and on top of it) Then I started building from there. A layer of Distress Oxide spray, splattered and edged with ink, some fun washi tape and my favorite elements - the people (colored with Copics) and the sentiment (cut apart and put down in pieces) from the Surrounded in Prayer set. I wanted the characters to look like they were singing soooo I looked through my stamp sets until I found a solid circle (the period in the Chunky Alpha set - woo hoo, how about that!)  I love the colors in this one and I LOVE the song peaking through

Recipe :

• Background - Gel Medium (Golden) and sheet music of Amazing Grace (printed on copy paper)
• Background ink - Distrss Oxide Spray Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo
• Splatters - White Pebeo acrylic and Black Dylusion Paint
• Image and Sentiment - Surrounded in Prayer and Chunky Alpha "Surround" is embossed with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and clear Embossing Powder
• Main image colored with Copics
• Washi Tape - By Grace from Illustrated Faith
• Outline image with Stabilo All Pencil and water brush

'Tis So Sweet

Hello sweet friends!  Hope you had a wonderful week and are ready to enjoy the weekend!  I have a couple of cards to share with you today using stamps that are now back in stock at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.

This Hymn Block coordinate beautifully with the Sweet as Honey stamp set.  After sponging distress inks on a glossy card stock panel and stamping the honeycomb from the Sweet as Honey stamp set, a little sanding in both directions helped to create a faux linen look.  Some Long Stem Silhouettes were stamped in the corner and square aperture was cut from the panel with a square die.  A frame was created and this panel was popped over another faux linen piece on which words from the time-loved hymn, 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus, was stamped.  The Honey Bee was stamped, colored, fussy cut and popped onto the card.

Have you ever had a loss of Mojo.  I've found that inspiration can come from almost anywhere if you just look around.  This next card was inspired by my shower curtain!

The stripes along the right side were stenciled while the flower from Mason Jar Bouquet was stamped several times and fussy cut.  These were mounted to a black panel in a way that resembled my shower curtain.  They were then embossed with a canvas impression plate to create the texture of fabric.  The sentiment was white embossed on a black fussy cut banner....No Coloring and very easy to make!

When Peace Like a River

Hello Sweet Friends!  Julie here, and today I am sharing a card created with the Hymn Blocks Clear Stamp Set (designed by NinaB Designs). 

I love the different hymns represented in this stamp set as well as the combination of fonts- don’t you?  So unique and perfect for many occasions!  Due to the popularity of this stamp set, we ran out of stock on our initial order but you can order yours now as a “Pre-Order”.

To create this card, stamp the Hymn Block image onto vanilla cardstock using a brown ink (I used the new Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink and embossed it with Clear EP), die cut with a stitched square die, add a bit of distressing with espresso ink and mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock.

Layer the different designer papers onto espresso cardstock and create the one vertical panel using the same Hymn Block image repeatedly stamped onto olive cardstock.

Add the artichoke denim ribbon bow with an espresso doily die cut along with a button, linen thread and a few pearls to finish off the card.  

I had fun designing this card and know that this stamp set will be one of my favorites for years to come!

What a friend I have in Jesus!

I am in love with the new Hymn Blocks Stamps. I have just been singing these songs as I made my cards and having a wonderful time.

I knew as soon as I saw this stamp set that I wanted to create a set of cards (I mean how do I chose just one for a card?) For fun, I decided to challenge myself to create 6 different card fronts using basically the same supplies.

With three distress inks (Salty Ocean, Abandoned Coral, and Mustard Seed - used separately and together to create a rainbow effect) as well as some additional tools, I came up with the following:

First, I watered down the colors and with a paint brushed, I splattered them onto my card panel. I inked the hymn block with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed it.

Second, I used an acrylic block and inked the colors (making sure to over lap yellow with the other two to create green and orange). I spritzed some water onto it the block and "stamped" the color onto my card panel. Again,  I inked the hymn block with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed it.

For my third card, I stamped some butterflies and flowers from Floral Greetings with Versamark. After drying it, I blended the colors onto the panel, spritz a little water onto it to soften to look and  inked the hymn  block with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed it. You can't really see the flowers and butterflies in the picture but in real life, they offer a little movement for the card.

Next, I repeated the process from above but I embossed the flowers and butterflies so that they would stand out and I inked the colors up a little heavier. For this one, I inked the Hymnal Block with white and popped it up on a panel.

The next card uses the ever fun "smooshing" technique using the same 3 colors and overlaps and acetate. I inked the hymn block with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed it.  

Last (but not least), I used a music notes stencil (from Tando Creative) and blended my inks over it. Before I removed the stencil, I spritz a little water onto it then I inked the hymn block with Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed it.

Happy 4th of July

Hello everyone, and happy 4th of July to all of our sweet American friends!  Hope you will be able to celebrate and take time to remember and be thankful for all of the sacrifices that have been made to ensure our freedoms in this wonderful country!  I think we sometimes forget how truly blessed we are!

Scribble Flowers and Grunge Elements were randomly stamped in blue, red, and light blue on the background.  Summer Fun Winnie was colored with Copic Markers and her banner fussy cut and popped up for dimension.  Half circles in red, white, and blue were added to complete the patriotic theme while enamel dots add to the festive look.

Distress inks were sponged on a background panel of mixed media paper.  Water was spritzed through a rays stencil to remove some of the ink.  The Hymn Block was embossed on white and yellow card stock so portions of the hymn could be highlighted and some of the letters were colored with Copic Markers.  A sun cut with one of the Beach Dies, stitching, and enamel dots were added to finish the card.
