Paper Scraps Challenge

Hello Sweet n' Sassy friends! Today we are hosting a stamp-a-thon in our Facebook Sweet n' Sassy VIP Group. Woohoo!! Get ready for a fun day and week of stamping!!!!

The creative team will be sharing live projects, plus a bunch of fun challenges throughout the day.
Play along with us in the VIP Group group for a chance to win a fabulous prize—a $50 gift code to our website! You have a whole week to create and submit for a chance to win.

My challenge is a.........

I am going to explain how to create a fun and easy background using paper scraps. You can use scraps of cardstock or pattern paper. No scraps, just cut down some of your stash. Your stripes can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal depending on your card design. So have fun, experiment and don't forget to share your creations in the VIP group on Facebook!

I used four different colors of cardstock to create the striped background.
I cut my scraps to the following sizes for my card.

2 blue 4 1/2" x 1 1/2"
1 pink 4 1/2" x 7/8"
1 orange 4 1/2" x 1/2"
1 green 4 1/2" x 1"

I put adhesive on the back of my cardstock stripes. Then starting at the top of my A2 card base, I lined up my first panel along the top edge allowing the ends to hang off the two sides. I continued to place the other pieces on the card front making sure to leave no space between the colors. After all the panels were attached I turned my card over and trimmed the ends hanging off the edge.

*I like having the ends longer so I don't have to stress about my measurements being perfect.*

*If you have white space at the bottom of your card just trim it off.*

I then stamped the white panel using the Folk Art Snowflakes and a Kaleidacolor stamp pad for a beautiful multicolored look. This beautiful snowflake set and its intricate pattern works well with a Kaleidacolor stamp pad. If you do not own one of these you can use your stamp pads to add various colors of inks to an image. Just make sure to always start with the lightest color first and work your way to the darkest.

Once my white panel was complete, I matted it on black and adhered it the front of the card. I  used Typewriter Blocks Alpha and All About You to create the sentiment stamping it in VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.

I hope you will give the Paper Scraps Challenge a try along with the other fun challenges in the VIP group. Don't froget you have a week to create and enter for a chance to win a $50 gift code to
Sweet n' Sassy Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Happy Father's Day

Hello Sweet 'N Sassy Friends!  Sheri here today with a couple card ideas for Father's Day.  I don't know about you but I tend to struggle when it comes to making masculine themed cards!  These card ideas could easily be changed to any occasion.

***THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU***

When it comes to masculine cards I try to keep them simple (stamp, layer, and embellish).  Here are a few things that I like to incorporate into my design:
  • Texture
  • Pattern Paper (Distressed, Woodgrain, Monochromatic)
  • Recipients Interests
  • Embellishments (Twine, Brads, Eyelets)

My first card incorporates pattern paper, twine, and brads from my list.  I did a little stamping and created my own background paper with the small "Dad" stamp from the For My Father stamp set.  The "Happy Father's Day" is also from this set.  This could be easily changed to a birthday card by using a birthday sentiment.

My second card features the For My Father and All About You stamps sets.  It show how using lots of pattern paper and a little twine showcases word/sentiment stamps.  I also like to use the scraps to decorate the inside of the card.  Nothing fancy but helps use up those scraps!

Scribble Flowers

Hello Sweet 'N Sassy Friends!  Sheri here today with a couple cards featuring the super sweet Scribble Flowers stamp set!  I'm in love with the whimsical design of this set!

For my first card I combined the Scribble Flowers set with a sentiment from the NEW Cheerful Hexies set.  The font of the "hello" sentiment works perfectly with this set.

Directions:
  • Cut an A2 White Card Base (5.5" x 4.25")
  • Cut a white layer (5.25" x 4") and then stamp three of the leave foliage directing onto the panel and color along with the sentiment. (Optional: Use a corner chomper to round two of the corners)
  • Stamp the flower image along with four leaves to color and fussy cut out.
  • Arrange the flower and leaves and attach with foam tape/pop dots for dimension.
  • Attach panel to card base. (Optional: Use foam tape/pop dots to add dimension)
  • For final embellishments I added rhinestones and some glossy accents to the flower center.

My next card features a sentiment from the All About You stamp set.

Directions:
  • Cut an A2 White Card Base (5.5" x 4.25")
  • Cut a layer of kraft corrugated card stock (5.25" x 4")
  • Cut a white strip (5.25" x 2.125") and randomly stamp the leaf foliage and color.  Cut Green layer (5.25 x 2.25") and attach.
  • Stamp sentiment onto a 2.125" square and attach it to a 2.25" square.
  • Attach pieces to card base. (Optional: Use foam tape/pop dots to add dimension).
  • For final embellishment I wrapped twine on the leaf layer before attaching to card base.

Valentine Love

Hello everyone,
It's Ceal, here to share with you a couple cards using the Filigree Hearts set which is our January Stamp of the Month. You are not able to purchase this set but can earn it free with a $75 purchase through the month of January.

It's a great set to have on hand for your valentine card making and I don't know about you but Valentines is one of my favorite holidays to make cards for.
On my first sample I paired it up with a couple of our other sets In Stitches Alpha and All About You.

My second sample uses the Hearts Filigree and In Stitches Alpha again but this time embossed for a little more elegant card.

Inspired Thank You Cards | Julee Tilman

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy friends! Welcome to 2019! I love a fresh new start and a chance to reflect on the things I'd like to do to better myself and the world around me in the coming new year. One of my crafty resolutions this year is to make more "mailable" cards. I love adding embellishments to my cards, but all the added doo-dads and chunkiness often make the cards hard to find an envelope for and a bit expensive to mail. So during the holidays, when I saw Korin's live video on the Creative Worship Bible Journaling Facebook group, I was inspired to make some quick thank you cards. For a short 3 minute overview of this method, check out her awesome 1 sheet - 9 cards video on YouTube.

My son Trevor has been creating a series of watercolor trashcan paintings. He's having a blast sketching our kitchen trashcan and then watercoloring it all the colors of the rainbow! So precious.  During one of his sessions I did a little Crayola watercoloring alongside  him and then showed him the magic of adding a bit of table salt to the wet paint to get some fun effects. I really wasn't thinking about cardmaking at the time, but I loved how vibrant the colors came out, so decided to use my project to follow Korin's footsteps and make some quick mailable thank yous!

I had only painted about a 3.75 x 7.25" swath of watercolor on my sheet, so decided to go for square cards to get the most out of my strip. I cut the watercolor sheet down to 1.5" x 3.5", so I could make four cards. I glued these strips to 4 inch square cardstock panels, then pulled out the fabulous All About You set and stamped the thank and the you using my MISTI to get the same placement on all of them.

Next I pulled out Winnie's Warm Wishes stamp set. This set is currently a steal of a deal in the $5 blowout section of the shop.  Speaking of deals, there have also been some new additions to the 20% off and 50% off categories, so be sure to check those out! 😀  I used the sweet little mug of cocoa and marshmallow, stamping it in black and then coloring with Copic markers and adding some crystal lacquer to the hearts and marshmallows. I then fussy cut and popped up on a little foam tape.  I added a bit of washi for a little interest, then finished with black mats and 4.25" square card bases.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you're inspired to make a few quick cards. Here's a look at the sets I used today.

All About You

Hello sweet friends....happy Saturday!  Back in July, Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps released a stamp set celebrating YOU!  This set is soooo versatile it can be used alone or can be combined with almost any other stamp set to create a card for any occasion.  Today I'm sharing just two ways to use

Distress Oxide Inks were used with the Lots-a-Spots stamp set to create a background for the Butterfly Flourish.  A second panel was also made using the same Oxide Ink colors.  Black acrylic splatters were flicked onto both panels.  A decorative square die was used to cut vellum which was then cut diagonally for the corners.  The word "you" from All About You was white embossed, fussy cut, and popped onto the card front with foam tape.  The butterflies from the Butterfly Flourish were stamped again and fussy cut to add to the card.  The word "thank" from the All About You set was stamped and highlighted with a white paint pen.

Typewriter Text Background was stamped on one panel, Floral Pattern Background (currently out of stock) was inked with Oxide Inks and stamped on a second panel, and a Pretty Potted Flower was stamped and colored with Copics on a third.  The three panels were cut into three sections and stitched together to form the card front.  The sentiment from the All About You set was stamped and a Majestic Monarch added.  The top of the flower was stamped a second time, fussy cut, popped onto the card, and a sparkly gem added to the center.

These stamp sets are available at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.

THANK YOU for stopping by today!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Cathy

You are Cherished

Hi Sweet n' Sassy Friends!
It's Ceal, a little late but here with my post to share with you today a card featuring the Scribble Flowers and the All About You sets.
To make my card, I started with a top folding white note card and a piece ow watercolor paper cut down with a stitched die. I randomly stamped the floral images  from the Scribble Flowers set all over the watercolor paper using Versafine Black Onyx ink, next I just scribbled color over the images using Zig clean color real brush pens and then spritzed with water. After the panel dried I added randomly added some black dots with a fine tipped sharpie.
For the greeting I stamped the word You from the All About You set using Versamark ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder so it would stand out against the background. I added the panel to a black mat and then to finish the card I stamped the rest of the greeting in Versamark ink on a black piece of card stock and heat set it with white embossing powder then used foam tape to give it dimension.

You Are A Blessing

Hello Sweet 'n Sassy friends!
It's Ceal, here to share with you a card using a new release paired up with one of my favorite older sets.

To make my card I started with a  top folding white card base and panel of bristol paper cut down with a stitched die. To create the background I randomly stamped one of the leaf images from the Scribble Flowers set with Versamark ink and then embossed with white embossing powder.   Next I blended the Distress Oxide ink in Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet over the embossed images and wiped off the excess ink with a paper towel.
To finish the card I added the greeting from the set All About You and embossed it in Black embossing power to make it stand out against the background

You are AMAZING!

Hello, Stephanie here with a card using one of the new release sets All About You and an older set called Floral Greetings.  I love both of these sets, All About you has lots of awesome sentiments and I love the flowers and sentiments in Floral Greetings.  This card came together quickly since there was no coloring involved, I stamped and embossed.   Please keep Korin and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they move to their new home this weekend.
