Sweeter than Honey

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy friends! It's Julee here with an almost one layer creation for you today. I love this beautiful beehive image from the Bee Sweet set, and really wanted to make it the focal point of a card.

I stamped the hive first, then masked off the hive and each teeny leaf and stenciled the background with the Great Outdoors stencil and speckled egg distress oxide.  I went in with a heavier touch than I wanted, so I stenciled over again with some unicorn pigment to soften the color. I really love how it turned out.

I had also masked off the bottom section of the card and stamped the Wood Backgrounds as a thick bench for the hive to sit on.  I used a variety of brown inks and some Copics to blend it how I wanted.

The scripture verse is from the Sweet as Honey set and stamped directly over the hive.  I then stamped two little bees on the panel, then stamped them again on scrap cardstock, colored and layered just the fussy cut birdies and wings over the stamped bees for a little dimension.

Probably the masking took the most time, but I really enjoyed the whole process. Hope you did too!

Succulents & Bees

Hello everyone, Esther here sharing two fun cards with you! On this succulent card, I did some masking on watercolor paper to create this fun collage.  I colored my succulents with Arteza Real Brush Pens and fussy cut them before popping them up over a plain white (embossed) background. Keeping the background simple really helps to make the main image "pop."

flower garden

Good morning! Today I have two cards to share with some new Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps sets. Here I used Flower GardenTrue Beauty, and Bee Sweet. Such fun sets to work with...it's another month with awesome new sets! Aren't these flowers pretty?

Both of my cards today are pretty quick and easy. Some simple coloring is all that's needed! I added an embossed border to my second card and attached the butterfly in the center so it's wings can pop up.

Have a great day!
Diane

Deserts and Bees

Hello Friends, Esther here with two fun cards to share with you! This first one is a desert scene using the Landscape Silhouette stamp set. I inked up the top half of a watercolor paper with pink and purple distress oxides and added some paint splatter stars. Originally I had masked off the moon, but had a little "whoopsie" with my ink so I ended up cutting a large white circle  to cover it up.  It was my first time to use the Landscape Silhouette stamp set, and I'm loving how it turned out!

How Sweet

I have been having so much fun playing with the adorable new set, Bee Sweet, illustrated by Jennifer Nilsson! So cute! I used the July inspiration challenge from the Sweet 'n Sassy VIP Group on Facebook and this sketch as my inspiration for today's card.

I stamped the images and sentiments with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink onto canson xl mixed media paper and white and sky blue cardstock. I colored the images with a variety of Arteza and Altenew watercolor brush pens and cut them out. I die cut the the white panel with a wonky stitch die and the sky blue piece with a small postage die. Originally, I did not have the bee on the card, but after assembling it I realized it needed one.

We would love to have you join us in the VIP group and play along with us!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Bee Sweet and a VIP Challenge

Hi friends! It's Julee popping in to share a card featuring one of the fabulous new sets from the July Release.

As soon as I saw the peeks of the Bee Sweet set, I fell in love with that little honeycomb pattern. I couldn't wait to color it up, and this month's inspiration challenge in the SNSS VIP Facebook Group was the perfect starting point.

I stamped the honeycomb and bee image on smooth bristol paper with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink (this ink is a deep, dark, black with great coverage, and is designed to work well with watery mediums without bleeding) then colored with Kuretake Clean Color Real Brush markers and a waterbrush.  I added a little crystal clear lacquer to the wings and sprinkled with glitter for some shimmer.  I then hand trimmed around the images and set them aside while I worked on the background.

I used the same color of markers to color a segment of my gel plate, then spritzed with water and pulled a print. I then spritzed the gel plate with water again, brayered, and then smooshed the outer edges of the card onto the plate repeatedly until I had as much color as I wanted.  When everything was dry, I embossed with a honeycomb embossing folder, then lightly sanded the raised edges so that the honeycomb print would stand out more.

The sentiment is embossed in white on black, then I layered it all together. A thin black mat and some distressed edges finish things off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you haven't checked out the new release, you're going to want to go take a peek. I am totally smitten with this month's stamps!
