Peppermint Stripes & National Coffee Day Hop Winner

Hi friends! It's Julee sharing some of my first makes with the Peppermint Stripe Stencil I designed for our October release. I'm a huge fan of peppermint and diagonal stripes, so this is a match made in heaven for me!

Before I get to the creative details, it's also time to announce the winner of our National Coffee Day Blog Hop prize...

Congrats VanessaB! Please send an email to snssassistant@gmail.com to claim your prize.

I designed the free digi below with the sentiment Vanessa suggested in her winning comment. Just right click and save to your computer. Thanks to everyone for hopping along! Please give credit to J Tilman Designs @vervegirl if you use it. Please and thank you.😁

Okay, on with my creative shares for the day.  I had fun with my first pass with this stencil, testing it with ink, glitter paste, and a mix of both. So much fun!

For my first card, I used mint tape to mask off the trio of thin stripes, then stenciled the bold lines in red.  Next I moved the tape to cover the red lines and added pink glitter paste to stencil the stripes.  I love how it looks like a real candy cane!

I recently received the coordinating dies for the classic Precious Poppies set, and could wait to use them. Poppies are red, so I figured they work for Christmas, right?  I added a sentiment tag with two sentiments from the Christmas Wordfetti set, then accented with a few little images stamped and die cut from the Wonder of Christmas Bundle.

My next card was inspired by my favorite wint-o-green mints. I did some masking and used sea glass on just the two outer thin stripes, then evergreen on all the other stripes for a fun wintergreen look.

I used the Christmas Silhouettes set and Karin markers for a soft watercolor effect, first stamping with the brusho, then coating the stamp lightly with water and stamping over it. When that was dry, I stamped again in clear embossing ink then embossed in clear. I love the look. I cut with the coordinating die cuts, then added the peace die cut from the Peace & Joy Word Dies, and a splash of color with the Doily Border Dies in cranberry and finished off with a gold poinsettia.

That third stenciled background hasn't made it onto a card yet, but I'm sure it won't be long. I used the stencil as is (no masking) with pink glitz glitter gel on red cardstock.

Thank so much for stopping by today! If you saw something you have to have, be sure to take advantage of our Earlybird Savings with 10% off individual new releases through Saturday, October 9.

Beautiful Birds and a New Technique

Hello All,

Hope you are all doing well in this strange world we find ourselves in.  Today I am sharing two cards using the Beautiful Birds Stamp Set.  I decided to try an altered version of a technique I saw a couple of years ago, but it was done with flowers and Copic markers.

The general idea is to start your panel with watercolor paper and distress inks.  Some call this ink smooshing (Karen did a tutorial on this the other day) and some call it wrinkle free distress technique.  I smooshed some red and brown distress inks on to my craft mat and spritzed it.  I then placed my watercolor paper into the droplets.  This was then dried.  I repeated the steps multiple times to get the desired look.  I had in mind where I wanted my cardinal to go, so I tried to get my ink colors in appropriate areas.
Once my paper was dry, I placed it in the MISTI and stamped the bird in red distress ink and the branch in brown distress ink (as best I could) right over the inked area.  I then painted the image with my Ken Oliver Colorbursts (which would be directly onto the distress inked areas).  I tried to keep the whole thing 'loose' but I found myself wanting to add in shading and detail.  When all was done, I stamped the feathers around the beak in black and then colored it in completely with a black Prismacolor pencil.  I added some details to to other areas as well with the Prismacolor pencil
Lastly, I spritzed some white acrylic paint on the image and also added 'snow' with a white gelly roll pen.  The sentiment is from the Christmas Wordfetti Set and is heat embossed in white.
The bird was die cut out and framed with some die cut patterned paper.  The sentiment and a few sequins finish it off.
The second card uses the Beautiful Birds Stamp Set as well.

The process was the same; ink smooshing in greens and blues.  Then the image was stamped in blue and green.  I cam back in with the watercolors to add additional color and details to the image.  I did overstamp the image with a dark ink to make the image crisper as things got a little muddied.  Details were added with Prismacolor pencils.  The sentiment is from the Precious Poppies Stamp Set.
The panel was die cut and adhered to the card base.  The sentiment is popped up on dimensional tape and sequins were added.
This was a fun experiment and I am pretty happy with the results.  Here's to hoping you have time to play this week!
There is still time to grab the new release bundle and get a 10% savings!  And to sweeten the deal, shipping is free when you spend $75 or more!  Wait, a little sweeter still- get the Stamp of the Month, Friendship is a Blessing, with a purchase of $75 or more through the month of April.

Thanks for stopping by,

Spotlight on SNSS

Hello sweet friends!  I love the new stamp sets released by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps this month, but I still love some of the old sets as well.  Today I am featuring the new and the old with two cards I made recently.

This first card uses the new Through the Trees stamp set as well as the Scene Silhouettes: Woodland set and the Thoughtful Words set designed by Nina Brackett.

The scene was stamped twice with the help of my Misti...once on Neenah card stock and once on mixed media paper.  Intense Color Blocks were used to watercolor the mixed media scene and ODBD Pierced Circle Dies were used to cut circles from the top layer.  The sentiment from the Thoughtful Words set was embossed on the top layer as well.  The top layer was popped over the watercolored layer using foam tape.  The animals from the Scene Silhouettes: Woodland set were embossed and cut with my SanNCut.  They were also popped onto the card with foam tape.

My second card uses the old Precious Poppies and Floral Greetings stamp sets.  Unfortunately I needed a sympathy card for a friend who just lost her father and the poppies were perfect.

The poppies were gold embossed on Neenah card stock and watercolored with Intense Color Blocks.  Fossilized Amber Distress Ink was sponged through a TH Burlap Stencil for a little shading behind the flowers.  The sentiment is from the Floral Greetings stamp set and was gold embossed on a black banner.  A bow made with metallic gold thread and black pearls were added to finish the card.
You can find these new and old stamp sets at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.

Thanks so much of stopping by!  Hope you were inspired and until next time...happy stamping!
Hugs,
Cathy

Wishing You...

Hello Sweet 'n Sassy friends!  Cathy here with two very different cards to share with you today.  I have a great niece who is three so I like to keep fun cards on hand for special occasions.  There are so many cute stamp sets at the SNSS Store that are perfect for this, but for her next fun-filled birthday, I just had to use this adorable clown from the Circus Fun stamp set.

Fun papers by American Crafts provided the ideal background for the clown which was paper pieced and colored with Copic Markers.  The balloons were colored and given a coat of Glossy Accents to look translucent.  Banner Dies were used to create the banner across the top of the card which was mounted to twine and attached with foam tape.

I also needed to wish friends at church the love, peace, and comfort of the Lord after the loss of their mother/MIL.   Precious Poppies and a technique learned at a recent Clear & Sheer Online Class were used for my sympathy card.

The poppies were white embossed on a piece of vellum dyed with Memento dye inks.  The vellum was attached to card stock that was embossed using the Anna Griffin Poppies folder and mounted to a card base.  The sympathy greeting from the Script Sentiments stamp set was gold embossed on a strip of white card stock and attached to the card.  A bow and gold pearls were added to finish the card.  A sentiment from Sympathy Innies was gold embossed on the inside.
(The Precious Poppies stamp set is currently out of stock but will be available soon.)

Be sure to check out these stamp sets and many other fabulous sets at the
Thanks so much for stopping by…happy stamping and have a wonderful day,

Mother's Day Poppies

Hi there, Sweet 'n Sassy Stampers.
It's me again, Ceal to share another card with you today.
Mother's day is this Sunday and I wanted to share a card made with one of my absolute favorite Sweet 'n Sassy sets to make a Mother's day card with, Precious Poppies
I am taking the Clear & Sheer class at Online Card classes and I used one of the techniques on my card today , colored vellum. I started with a regular piece of vellum and blended Watermelon Wonder and Flirty Flamingo dye inks to get this ombre' effect. I stamped the image in Versamark Ink and embossed it with white embossing powder. The greeting is embossed in black.

Negative Space Coloring

Happy Monday, Sweet 'n Sassy friends!
It's Ceal here to share a card with you using a technique I have been wanting to try since I seen Jennifer McGuire use it. The technique is called negative space coloring and there are different ways you can do this technique using different coloring mediums. For my card I masked off the image and used some watercolors but you can also use Copic markers or Distress inks.
I used the Precious Poppies set which was perfect for this technique. Our Flower Blocks sets would also make a gorgeous card using this technique.
The greeting is from the Keep in Touch, Too set.

Poppies in a bag

Good morning! Stacy with you today sharing some Precious Poppies in a bag with you. So grab your coffee and relax for a few minutes with me.

This stamp set Precious Poppies is one of my favorite released sets and I figured it was perfect for today's post. My creation is using a standard flat kraft colored bag (measures 5 x 7) instead of the traditional card in an envelope. I thought that might be a bit more fun for the person this is intended for. My poppies are stamped on the base using Memento Tuxedo black ink. These poppies are colored with colored pencils and some added sparkle was added for the final touch. I simply cut the sides of the bag an inch down and folded over the top to create a flap. Added some texture to the flap and a decorative edge in red card stock. Stamped the sentiment from the Faith stamp set and added a few rhinestones.

The inside card panel has the Precious Poppies stamped on kraft card stock and colored to match the front of the bag. Some ribbon tied to the top flap and added rhinestones. Enough space to write my personal message and Voila! Thanks for joining me today. See you in two weeks, have a GREAT week!

poppy note

Good morning Sweet 'n Sassy friends!

Today I am sharing a card with 2 of my favorite SNSS stamp sets combined...the Keep In Touch stamp set and Precious Poppies.  I also used the Keep in Touch coordinating dies and the Typewriter Text Background.

I was inspired to create this card by the Vera Bradley wallpaper on my desktop monitor.  You can be inspired by many things...just look around you!

Enjoy your day!
♥ Diane

Look What's Back!

Hello, sweet friends!  Have you heard the news?  Look what's back!  It's Cathy here sharing a few cards made with some of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps favorite stamp sets that are now back in stock.

Precious Poppies is a stamp set full of beautiful poppy images and wonderful sentiments in gorgeous fonts.  A frame for the poppies was made using distress inks and the wrinkle free technique.  The poppies were watercolored using the same inks used for the frame.  Mixed Media paper was used for the poppy panel and the frame.

Our popular Flower Blocks 3 stamp set is back in stock.  These beautiful big flowers are fun to color or paper piece.  I went back to my coloring roots and dug out my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol to color the rose from the Flower Blocks 3 stamp set.  The sentiment is from the Wishing You Well stamp set, also back in stock!

We just finished a week of VBS at our church and we had the kids make cards for our Encouragement Committee.  One of the stamp sets we used was Landscape Silhouettes which is now available!  We kept the design simple and used the wonderful sentiments from the Be Encouraged stamp set.  The kids had such a good time making the cards and I know those who receive them will love the fact that they were made by the children.

Here are the stamp sets now available at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store
