Beauty By The Sea

Hi friends, Stephanie here with a little set of cards I made using Beauty  By The Sea.  I am a lover of the beach and a very big fan of collecting sea shells.  I especially love spending time on Sanibel Island which is on the Gulf side of Florida, it is the number one destination in the world to collect shells.  I just did some simple stamping with some distress inks and paired the images with this awesome paper from The Paper Studios.  This Set is 20% off right now so make sure you check it out along with the other great sets that are discounted.

Beauty By The Sea

Hello Sweet 'n Sassy friends, it's Ceal here to share a card I made for a friends daughter that is getting married this month at the beach.
I combined three different sets to make my Beachy wedding card. I stamped the shell and starfish from the Beauty by the Sea set in versamark ink and embossed them with white embossing powder. Next I stamped the beach umbrella from the Wish you were Here set, used the Umbrella die to cut it out and colored it in one of the wedding colors. The sentiment is from the Inspirational Word Art 1 set.
I finished it by sponging some brown ink around the shells to give it a little beach sand.

Here are the sets I used

Beauty by the Sea...

Hello! It's Monika here today, bringing you an elegant beach card.

Couple of weeks ago, I made a beach card using a water color pastel technique. This time, the background was made using the acrylic block water color technique (there is a sweet tutorial HERE). I used blue and tan markers to color the block, spritzed water over it, then used the block as a stamp. You always get a different look with this technique and it is super easy.

Next I stamped the silhouette image from Landscape Silhouettes clear stamp set onto the background.

To add dimension to the card, I die-cut a stitched circle out of the background and popped it up with dimensional tape.

Then made the embellishments... I heat embossed some of the smaller images from Beauty of the Sea clear stamp set on Vellum with white embossing powder and cut the images out. There is also a coordinating die set: Beauty of the Sea die set.

Thank you for stopping by,
Monika

Tutorial Monday: Water color background with Pastels...

UPDATE:
The stamps used in this tutorial are available for preorder and are expected back in stock this week, but quantities will be limited.

Hello! It's Monika here today, bringing you a water color background with Pastels.

I've been eyeing Brushos and Color Bursts (powered water color), but haven't had a chance to get any yet... then, I saw this amazing video (HERE), using Pastels to achieve a somewhat similar result, and I had to give it a try. So I went to my local craft store, and got a set of Chalk Pastels for under $3 (with a coupon).

I just needed a file (found one in my hubby's tool box, but a regular nail file or sandpaper would work just as well), water color paper, and a spritzer bottle.

I trimmed my card stock a bit bigger than needed, and taped it to a clip board with masking tape... then I got to work... I sanded the pastels onto the card stock, then spritzed water on top, and watched my colors come to live...

I dried the card stock with my Heat Tool. At this point, you can go back and add more Pastels powder, and spritz the background again with water.

Each time, you will get a different result... here are some of my backgrounds:

Please note, some of the chalk will rub off without using some kind of fixative. Hair spray might work, but it can change the hues of the colors.

To finish the card, I heat embossed some images from Beauty of the Sea clear stamp set on Vellum with white embossing powder and die cut the images with the coordinating dies from Beauty of the Sea die set. The greeting is from Be Encouraged clear stamp set

Monika

2014 Year in Review - Day 13: Beauty By the Sea

Hello sweet friends and welcome back to Day 13 of
Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Year in Review!

Today's feature is:
If you love the ocean as much as I do, then you will LOVE this stamp set.  The gorgeous shells in this stamp set are perfect for creating beautiful summery cards, but Mary and Diane have a bit of a surprise for you today!

Would you ever think to use Beauty By the Sea for a Christmas card?...

What a gorgeous Christmas card Mary has made with the Beauty By the Sea stamp set!  The sponging on the shells and the papers along with the torn edge give this Christmas card a vintage look that is just beautiful!  The sentiment is from Christmas Sentiments available as a digital stamp set.

Diane used bits of holly with white embossed shells from Beauty by the Sea to create her beautiful Christmas card.  The texture at the bottom of her card reminds me of waves at the beach.  Part of the sentiment is from Christmas Morn and the holly is from the Christmas Silhouettes stamp set.

And now let's look at more Beauty By the Sea created by the
Design Divas in 2014!

Diane has again used the beautiful fan texture reminiscent of waves at the beach to create her uplifting card.  Saran Wrap was used to create a watery background for her seashells.  The scripture verse is from the Beauty By the Sea stamp set.

Jessica used Peerless Watercolors to paint her gorgeous shells after embossing them on watercolor paper.  These shells definitely reflect Beauty By the Sea!

How stunning!  Janette used layers of beautiful papers and her perfect stitching to make a base for the gorgeous shells from Beauty By the Sea!

The embossed starfish on the background makes the perfect base for Giovana's seashell wreath.  How creative…love the coiled twine and the bits of cheesecloth tucked behind the embossed shells from the Beauty By the Sea stamp set.  The pearls are the perfect addition to this gorgeous card perfect for almost any occasion!

On this card created by Lee Ann, the shells from Beauty By the Sea were gold embossed on vellum and hung with jump rings to make a gorgeous seashell swag!  The shells were cut with the matching Beauty By the Sea Dies.
The SNSS Design Divas are so creative and very talented!

Hope you've been inspired by your visit today.  Don't forget that our featured stamp sets are on SALE right now at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.  You can snatch up these sets at 25% OFF the regular price from now until the end of the month.  What a perfect Christmas gift for a stamp lovin' friend!

Jessica here with a card to share with you this morning using the lovely Beauty by the Sea stamp set with its coordinating dies.  This is such an elegant stamp set and perfect for lots of techniques!  I chose to watercolor the shells with Peerless Watercolors.  I embossed the images on watercolor paper with white embossing powder and after the images were painted and dried, I used their coordinating dies to cut out the images.

Have a lovely rest of your day!

Congrats!

Hello friends! Giovana here sharing with you one of my favorite cards recently made! I shared this card during our latest release, and just in case you haven't seen it yet, here it's for you.

For this card I used Beauty by the Sea Stamps and Beauty by the Sea Dies.
Here are the details:

  • Create a card base from White Cardstock. A2 size.
  • Cut a panel from light gray cardstock (3.75" x 5"). Stamp images in Versamark ink, add Bridal embossing powder and heat set. Ink all edges with a light blue ink color.
  • Stamp shells on White cardstock (I used textured) in Versamrak ink, then add white embossing powder and heat set. Color shells with markers. Die-cut them using coordinated dies.
  • Create a wreath (kind of) with jute twine and hot glue it to card panel. Add shells, cheese cloth, pearls.
  • Die-cut a label and stamp sentiment in Jet Black Archival ink.
  • Add panel to card base with foam adhesive.

Hope you like it.
Have a fantastic day!

Relax!

Hello! Good day! It is Gloria with you today. I have a beach-themed card to share. I had some fun with the NEW Beauty By the Sea stamps and August Release die cuts

I created a standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch card (top fold) with a soft color palette and some wonderful starfish images!

I stamped the starfish images onto printed cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. I used the Beauty By the Sea die set to cut the starfish. Don't they look amazing?! I used a photo slide frame to hold my little beachy cluster.

For this cluster, I used a punched postage image and some twine to "anchor" my die cut starfish. I stamped the sentiment from the Beauty By the Sea set and cut it out in a banner shape.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card. I stamped the Scripture sentiment from the Beauty By the Sea set in brown ink. I also added another die cut starfish.

Thanks for looking!

Birthday Seashells

Hello Everyone!

Today's card uses a gorgeous stamp set and brand new matching dies, Beauty By the Sea

It is hard to believe it is back to school time already; before you know it we will be stamping pumpkins, fall leaves and Christmas Trees!  I just had to use this set one more time while  I was still in the summer mood!
Have you ever sat down to make a card and been inspired by so many different things that you did not know where to start??  That was me with this card!  I tried so many different things and just kept combining what I tried 'til I liked what I came up with!  True confessions right here!
I was initially inspired by the gold on vellum trend and stamped and die cut the smaller shell images on vellum.  Not sure how I got around to turning each of them into little charms, but I die cut the same shells from coral paper, then stamped the shell images in Versamark on these die cut shells, matched the cs shell to the vellum shell, punched a small hole near the top and fastened them with a small loop of craft wire.

I was also inspired by a recent purchase I made when I was visiting Design Team member and friend, Ceal- I finally found a craft iron after looking for about two years!  I really wanted to try the iron-off embossing technique and used an image from the Leafy Flourish Background and More  set to try it out.  I stamped the image in Versamark, clear embossed it, colored it with Pan Pastels, and then ironed off the embossing.
I threaded my shell charms on some Hemptique Cord and added some ribbon and linen bows in between charms.
The sentiment is also from the Beauty By the Sea Stamp Set and is stamped on a piece of Studio Calico dp.  A couple of vintage faceted buttons finish off the card!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a Blessed week!

Lee Ann  :)

birthday by the sea

Hello!  Did you see the new dies that were released yesterday?  They match 3 of the summer sets already available in the SNSS store.  Here I paired a stamp set called The Sea with seashells from Beauty By The Sea and their (just released) matching dies.

The shells were heat embossed on vellum and colored from behind with various markers.  A circle was punched in the light blue layer and then I lightly traced the opening before gluing the layer down so I knew where to stamp the boat image.

Seashells are great to use on a card because they can convey happiness or a sense of calmness and peace.  I think this design would work well for many occasions, including sympathy.  Just make several the same and switch up the sentiment.

Have a great Saturday!
♥ Diane

Let the sea praise Him.

Good morning!

Jessica here with a card to share using a few products that we will be featuring this Friday for our August release!  I used the beautiful Flourish Seashells stamp set with the new coordinating dies that will be available at the end of the week! The sentiment is from the Beauty by the Sea stamp set.

I stamped the sea shells in versamark ink on watercolor paper and embossed with white embossing powder.  Then, I took a waterbrush and Peerless Watercolors and watercolored the images, being sure to go over the lines and edges to help the white embossing pop.  When it was dry, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  I did the same technique for the sentiment, die cutting an oval and then backing it with a vellum layer.

Stay tuned for lots more peeks this week on the SNSS blog leading up to Friday's release!
Have a wonderful day!

celebrate today

Good morning!  I have 2 cards to share today.  They both use a blue/green color combo but they look so different.
My first card was made with the new stamp set called Celebrate Today and a Lacey Eyelet Border die.

I used the thumping technique again on the flowers... color the flower with a lighter colored marker, then tap, or thump, a darker colored marker over top before stamping.  Here's another card I made with the same stamps & technique.

On my second project I used different shades of blue and green with Beauty By The Sea to make a beachy card.  How fitting for such a hot & humid week that we've had!

Here I used the Saran Wrap technique to make the background.  Just scrunch and wad up a piece of plastic wrap and use it like a sponge to apply ink to your cardstock.  Tap it on your inkpad and then dab onto the paper in an up & down motion (like stamping), layering several colors.   Then I stamped the shells over top in a darker blue.  Here's a close up.

This technique gives the ink some "texture" vs. the smoother look when you sponge in a circular motion.
I hope you have a great, cooler weekend!
♥ Diane
