Nightscape Guy Cards

Hello everyone! I am back today sharing two guy cards featuring the brand new June Product of the Month Grunge Gears Stencil. This stencil is yours free this month with a $50 qualifying order! Check out what the team has done with this fabulous stencil and be on the lookout for more inspiration throughout the month.

I confess, I had zero inspiration before this stencil arrived in the mail. I just started pulling sets out I thought might work with it and let the ideas flow from there.

I created the backgrounds almost exactly the same way. The lighthouse one is fainter because I started with a layer of speckled egg distress oxide ink since I wasn't sure I liked the first one I did. In the end, I decided to use both.

First, I taped down the stencil over a piece of white cardstock. Then, I went over it with distress oxide inks(picked raspberry, wilted violet, faded jeans and chipped sapphire). I continued to blend the inks until I was happy with it. Once I removed the stencil, I went over the background lightly with a combination of faded jeans and chipped sapphire. I die cut the panel, masked off a line with post-it notes where I wanted the water to be and went over that section heavy handed with chipped sapphire.

After I removed the post it notes, I heat set the ink and embossed the images with black powder along the water line. Don't forget to use an anti static powder first! I used post-it notes to mask off the embossed areas to add white paint splatters to the top and water texture to the bottom with white pigment ink and a texture stamp. Finally, I stamped the sentiment with black ink directly on the panel, matted the panel with black and attached to a white base.

Be still and know by Charmaine Canham

How are you? Are you OK? How are you holding up? Let me tell you, I am not doing well.
The world is on fire, countries are at war,
we are fighting amongst ourselves.
I had to make myself a card tonight to remind me that
God is in control. He is almighty, and He's got this.

Ok, let me tell you how I made these two cards:

The inspiration for this card is from all the noise we constantly hear from the big cities. I chose the Landscape Silhouette stamp set for both cards.

First, I made the background using my favorite combo of Distress Oxides: Black Soot, Chipped Saphire, and Dusty Concord.

Next, stamp Typewriter Text Background stamp with white pigment ink.

Stamp the city silhouette with black ink, and then clear heat emboss it to prevent smudging.

Add "stars" with white Copic Opaque paint splatters.

Stamp your sentiment from the Faith Wordfetti stamp set. I then
mounted it on silver Mirror card to play on the silver of the stars.

The next card is made in the same way and with the same stamp sets.
I tried to mimic the "fire" using these distress oxides.

This background is named Psalm 23 background.

Stamp this with a Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide.

I found a Versafine Clair that matched the brown of the Distress Oxide. This is
also, a nice ink for detail stamping.

I added gold Tonic Mirror cardstock to the back.

I hope you found some comfort today.

Talk soon,
Charmaine

Road Trip

 Hello Friends!

I have another desert scene, this time in the form of a road trip!  I combined the two sets, Just Married and Thirsty Soul to create this card.

I made this with my niece in mind, who is ready to start life as a new RN.
The VW Beetle was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I used post it notes to mask off the heart banner and Just Married sign in the back window.  The car was colored with Copics and fussy cut out.
The cacti were also stamped and colored with Copics,  I stamped the tall Saguaro in varying heights and with various limbs to create a realistic desert of Saguaros in different sizes.  They were fussy cut out as well.
The background was done with Daniel Smith Watercolors on Arches water color paper.  I had the desert, road and tall mountains in, then decided to add foothills to the mountains using the mountain stamp from the Landscape Silhouettes Stamp Set.  This is where things were almost ruined.  I selected the wrong colors of Distress Inks and then the paper got too wet.  Once the paper was completely dry, I went back in and brushed in a darker color (and I don't even remember what color I used) and this gave the illusion of shadows on the foothills and saved the background.
The sentiment is from the Inspirational Word Art 1 Stamp Set and was stamped with Versafine Black Ink using my MISTI so I could stamp multiple times and get good coverage, even on the textured watercolor paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Masculine Cards

Esther (from Shoregirl's Creations) here today sharing two masculine cards I created with the NEW Everyday Greetings 2 stamp set. Both of them are no-coloring cards, though the second one has plenty of color on it!

This first card is a fun birthday card that features the Gear Up and Time Well Spent sets as well as the Typewriter Text Background .  The watch and sentiment were stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink while the grunge elements were stamped in walnut stain distress ink.

My second card is a silhouette card. The background is dusty concord, chipped sapphire, speckled egg, stormy sky distress ink blended together to form sky and water. I used just a bit of white pigment ink to lighten up the center of my card and create the illusion of moonlight across the water. To add a little twinkle to my night sky, I spread some white gesso through the Starry Night Stencil.

The lighthouse and trees are from the Landscape Silhouettes set, and I added grass along the bottom with Scene Silhouettes: Tall Grass and the Cattail Die. The waves were created with a small stamp from Scene Silhouettes: Trees. All the stamping was done in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

Deserts and Bees

Hello Friends, Esther here with two fun cards to share with you! This first one is a desert scene using the Landscape Silhouette stamp set. I inked up the top half of a watercolor paper with pink and purple distress oxides and added some paint splatter stars. Originally I had masked off the moon, but had a little "whoopsie" with my ink so I ended up cutting a large white circle  to cover it up.  It was my first time to use the Landscape Silhouette stamp set, and I'm loving how it turned out!

Go God's Way

Hello SWEET Friends! It's Monika here today. I have couple of cards using the new Creative Worship: Go God's Way clear stamp set.

I turned my first card into a shaker card... I had this picture in my mind with a circle window opening, and that is a perfect set up for a shaker! You just need lots of dimensional foam tape (or fun foam), a window sheet, and lots of sequins and micro beads.

The camper and the 'bug' were stamped on water color paper and colored with Kuretake Gansai Tombi water colors. The circle background was sponged with yellow, orange and red distress inks. The landscape images (desert scene and grass) are from Landscape Silhouettes clear stamp set. The greeting is from another favorite sentiment set, Keep in Touch, Too. It's a must have!

My second card is a simple birthday card. The word images are from So Happy clear stamp set. I already had the sponged background laying around on my craft table, so I went with it. The butterflies are punched out of vellum.

Thank you for stopping by,
Monika

For the Birds

Hello sweet friends!  Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has many stamp sets with wonderful bird images.  The two cards I have to share today use two of these stamp sets.  The first card includes birds from the newly released Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands set.

To create the background for this card, distress inks were applied to a piece of acetate, spritzed with water, and the ink on the acetate used to "paint" the scene.  The trees from Landscape Silhouettes were stamped on the horizon, then stamped again on a piece of acetate, flipped ink side down under the trees and rubbed onto the card to make the reflection.  Silhouettes from Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass and Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands were added.  A sentiment from the Thoughtful Words set embossed on a pennant flag completes the card.

My second card was made just in time for Valentine's Day and features the cute birds from the Love Birds stamp set.

Clouds were sponged on the background.  All of the images were colored with Copic Markers and cut with coordinating dies that are no longer available.  The hearts were covered with Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents and hung from the branches with metallic thread.  A sentiment from the Stand Tall stamp set was embossed to finish the card.

All of the stamp sets used to create the cards above are available at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store!

There's still time to take advantage of the new February Release Bundle available for pre-order until February 9th!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Be sure to check back often to see more beautiful samples created by the Creative Team for your inspiration!

Hugs,
Cathy
