Faith-dex Card: Pray without Ceasing

Happy Friday! Today I have a kind of simple but really beautiful faith-dex card.

I used a Heidi Swapp faith-dex die cut and the new Pray Without Ceasing set. While I love the bigger sentiments for their versatility in card making, I really love the more wordfetti type sentiments as they are so comforting. My favorite is "He bends down to listen." It makes me think of a father getting right down on the same level as his child to make sure he is present in the conversation and the child knows he is there, listening, and ready to act as needed. This one really gets me in the feels!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is snss-pray-without-ceasing-1.png

I used water color paper to cut out my card, I used the blending brushes on my desk with the Mosaic Stencil - I didn't add ink to them just used what was left from other projects. I used Distress Oxides to stamp up my wordfetti in in a reverse rainbow and then I felt it was too simple (haha) so I dug through my stack of already colored images and found a leaf set from Botanical Branches which I cut apart to balance up my card. On the back, I added a scripture from the Pray Without Ceasing set for me to memorize:
1 Peter 5:7 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

I love how this turned out. It isn't my usual bright color set which is a nice change. I hope you are inspired! Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,

Happiness Blooms

Today I have a fun card for you using the Sweet N Sassy Stamp of the Month Happiness Blooms.

Using Distress Inks, I stamped Texture Tiles 1 to create a background on watercolor paper. I spritzed it a bit to give it a watercolor(y) look. I stamped the flower from Happiness Blooms over it and colored with Copic markers. It has a loose look because of the Copics on watercolor paper. To give it a more crisp look, I went back in with Polychromos pencils. I love the colors on this one. I layered it all up and there is the card. I just needed a sentiment...The sentiment strip comes from Pray Without Ceasing. It is a great encouragement card don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired.

Song Birds - Mini Art Journal

Today I have sweet little journal page in the mini journal I made using my memorydex dies.

First, I did some fun but simple background texture with distress oxides, the leaf branch stencil, and Spotted and the "rain" from Puddle Jumpers and then I toned it down a bit with watered down white acrylic paint. I stamped one of the birds from Song Birds on top of this and colored it with my Polychromos colored pencils. They work great - easily coloring over other things! Finally I used Versa Clair Nocturne ink for the sentiment/verse.

I hope you like it and are inspired. Sometime a little canvas is just what you need to keep creative!

Totally Wonderful Day - Gift Tag

Today I have a gift tag for your inspiration. I used Distress Oxides and the Grunge Grid stencil as well as the word "Happy" and the stars from the Beautiful You stamp set for background texture.

With a scrap from a previous card, I created a birthday candle. I added a sentiment from the Beautiful You set (colored in with Polychromos pencils) and some super fun textiles and that is it.

I can't wait to add it to a wrapped gift. I think it will be the perfect touch but what do you think?

I hope you are inspired.

Mixed Media Joy!

Spring is in the air big time. My tulips are out of the ground and just minutes away from blooming! How is the weather in your area?

Today I have a "CAS" - mixed media card. Is that even possible? I had a gel print in my stash that I thought would add some background interest for my sweet pail of flowers and sentiment from the new Puddle Jumpers set from Sweet N Sassy.

I used acrylics to create the background and colored my image with Polychromos pencils. I grounded my pail with some washi tape then added more in a few spots to balance everything. I added a bright, contrasting mounting piece and that is all there is to it. I really like it but what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to create something today.

Hugs and Kisses

It is time to send out Valentine's cards!! I love to send out Valentine's - they are less stressful than Christmas and so cheerful!! Today I have two Valentine's cards to share using the Hugs and Kisses Stencil and the Latte Love set (with dies). They are clean and simple layouts but I think the "pop" comes from the fun backgrounds. What do you think?

PS - in the background, you are seeing some of my tiered tray decorations - chunky wooden hearts with the Hugs and Kisses Stencil used to paint on the textures, and a "stack of Valentine's books" using Bitty Minnie Alpha.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you were inspired today!

God is Good

Today I am sharing several projects using Sweet N Sassy's God is Good set. This set is the first set designed by team member Deidre Carson and it is from the January release and it is so, so sweet! I really love that is can be used in a variety of ways - Bible journal, greeting card, memory-dex...

For my projects, first I have a couple of memory-dex cards. I created backgrounds by ink smooshing then inking through a stencil. I inked my floral image on top of the background then colored them with Polychromos pencils. I added sentiments - which are perfect for memory-dex cards as they are straight from the Psalms and are just so beautiful. I love them but what do you think?

My next project is a card. I created an ink blended background then added a cover plate die over it for some texture. I created a panel strip with the image from God is Good and a sentiment from The Future. I colored my image with Polychromos pencils.

I so enjoyed creating with this set today! I think you will love it too!

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you were inspired!

Sweater Weather

It is finally, really and truly sweater-weather here. Up until now, we have been more "long sleeve t-shirt weather" in Georgia. We are preparing for snow and ice this weekend and when that happens we see a run on grocery stores and people tuck in - we do NOT want to get on the roads as we are simply not prepared nor are we particularly good at it :)

Today I have 2 projects to share; some clean and simple cards and an art journal page using the new stamp set... Sweater Weather ha - right?!

First, I have a couple of clean and simple cards using one of the elements from Sweater Weather and part of a sentiment from another new set called Snowy Hello - I used a stamp shape die and positioned the image and sentiment to look like a fun winter postage stamp.

My second project is an art journal page in my mini art journal. I used an embossing folder to add some texture. I added a little glitter embossing powder and some snowflake sequins for a fun touch. I colored my sweater with Polychromos pencils. I added sentiment blocks and then outlined it with a navy Stabilo water pencil. It makes me smile out loud - I love it!

I hope you were inspired by my projects today!

Pocket Card

Happy Day After Thanksgiving! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of family and fun! I am still trying to recover from all that food haha!  Today I have a simple pocket card for you. I dug through my stash of backgrounds and then took them up a notch by simply adding the new Script Background stamp in a coordinating color. I also created a note card to go into the pocket and gave it the same "subtle" treatment and also added an image from the Wonder of Wonders set. I colored the faces, hands, and heart and let the rest blend into the background.

I think this will be a unique card for someone who needs some love and encouragement but what do you think?

Geometric Background Birthday Card

Today I have a simple card using the October Stamp of the Month - Geometric Background. I used Copics in a rainbow type order and I paired it with Sentimental Mash Up for an awesome Birthday card for a male or female. I created a candle with a scrap of the background and using a "candle flame" shape gem, my card is complete.

The colors are really vibrant in real life - I am loving this card! What do you think!

I hope you are inspired!

Wood Scraps to Treasure!

 Hi Friends! Happy Friday!!

I have been having a great time stretching my stamps and have loved the fun wood block decor I have created this summer. My first batch were made for my sister's birthday (for her tiered tray) and I had the hardest time giving them over (haha). Sooo what's a girl to do but make herself some (and get a tray to go with them - sigh.) Today I have lot of samples to show you!

My first projects used a wonky piece of scrap wood, a wood slice, and a "stem"/stick from my yard to create pumpkin with a little sign using Fall Breeze. Then I grabbed a scrap of 2x4 for a block using Autumn Gnomes with I modpodged onto the block and and a sentiment from Rhubarb's Harvest (stamped with Stazon)

These are all super fun and very easy! I hope you are inspired to try something similar - If you don't have the blocks, you can sometimes get them from Home Depot from the scrap pile - where there is a will there is a way right :)

Fall Leaves and Coffee Please

Today I am playing with two of the Sweet N Sassy August stamp sets Fall Breeze and Autumn Gnomes and the Fall Leaves Stencil. I tried a some different techniques with the stencil to give myself 3 unique backgrounds. Then I used the simple sentiments and images from my stamp sets to finish off my cards.

First up... I ran my stencil through my embossing machine. You can't see it very well but it is slightly raised. While the stencil was still attached to my cardstock, I lightly brushed on some distess inks. I stamped on the sentiment from the Fall Breeze set and colored in the outlines of the words. Super simple but fun!

Second (and third), I did some ink blending on Bristol Smooth water color paper. I laid the stencil on top and spritzed it heavily with water with caused the ink underneath to run a bit so I lifted the stencil and laid it onto a clean piece of Bristol paper for a much lighter, subtle look. I added sentiments and small images to both of these backgrounds and they were pretty much finished.

I hope you were inspired to try out your stencils in multiple ways and see what you get - I think you will be happy with the results!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Jesus! (Christmas in July Sale!)

Today I am using All Wrapped Up. It is one of the stamp sets in this week's Christmas in July sale - now through the 26th, Christmas and Winter sets are 25% off.

For my projects today, I have gone with non-Christmas cards and created birthday cards. I mean ultimately, Christmas IS Jesus' birthday so maybe they are Christmas cards. Hmm...

My cards are fairly clean and simple but they are created using different coloring mediums.

For my first project, I did a little masking with most of the gift boxes to create a PILE of gifts. I inked them with Versaclair black ink on Neenah Solar white. I colored everything with polychromos pencils and added a sentiment (heat embossed on black cardstock) from the Birthday Wordfetti set. To finish it, I simply mounted it on a black card base.

For my second project, I used the stack of gifts again but this time colored it (and the bow) with Copics. I fussy cut the stack and the bow. I cut off the top gift to add to the front of the stack and added the bow to the top gift - I glued these onto a card panel, mounted that on blue cardstock, then mounted that on a Neenah Solar White card base. My big sentiment banner is from Bold Birthdays.

That is both of my Christmas in July projects. I hope you are inspired!! Check out all of the Christmas and Winter stamps - 25% off until the 26th...no coupon code needed!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

Today I have three Thank You cards using this months "stamp of the month" free with a $60 purchase. It is called (wait for it...) Thank You (haha!)

This set it so fun. There are chunky thank yous and scripty thank yous. They go with so many card designs. For my projects, I pulled some backgrounds together and mostly let the sentiment carry the card. I am pretty happy to have some thank you cards in my stash that are versatile too!

1st - I created a abstract back ground using copics to color the heat embossed my sentiment on black with white embossing powder.

2nd - I used the Background Builder Stripe set to create a fun black and white background, heat embossed my sentiment on black with white embossing powder and mounted everything on red for a pop of color.

3rd - I had a left over chick from March's Hoppy Spring set and I used it as an accent to a background using the Chicken Wire Stencil (right...). Then I stamped my sentiment onto the background.

I hope you are inspired - this set is seriously worth it! It will be one I go to again and again!

Watercolor Botanical Branches

Today I have a simple water color project. I stamped one of the Botanical Branches several times with various colors of Distress Ink then I “water colored in the leaves” with those same inks. I spritzed the page and let the ink bleed a bit then I pressed a paper towel to dry it some. I split the panel and inserted a sentiment strip from Be Encouraged in the middle of the pieces to make the stems look longer.

This was really simple but the results are so pretty – I love it! I hope you are inspired today!

Snail Village ATC Card

Today I have a fun card that uses an ATC card as it's focal point. I first created the ATC and then decided it would be a fun card so I went for it...

I started with an ATC panel of watercolor paper. I smooshed some Distress Oxides (Hickory Smoke and Aged Mahogany.) I added a little color texture with the bitty heart stencil that I spritzed with water so it blended into the background. I added more texture around the edges with the Grunge Elements 3 and Texture Tiles 7. With my backgrounds created, I colored up my Snail House from Snail Village and fussy cut it. I added a little washi for it to sit on and added a sentiment. ATC done.

For the card, I simply layered some Neenah Solar White and Bazzill Brick cardstock and that is that. I love it!

I hope you like it and are inspired!

Have a great day!

Scribble Flowers

(This post may include affiliate links at no cost to you.)

Today I have two different projects using an all time favorite Sweet N Sassy Stamp - Scribble Flowers.

The first project is a CAS card with some very unique pieces. I stamped the Texture Tiles 11 Background onto a piece of tissue paper with archival ink. I adhered it onto a piece of cardstock I cut it into strips with a pierced die then I inked up each piece with Distress Oxides and added it to a card base. Then I water colored the leaf from Scribble Flowers in coordinating colors, fussy cut it, and glued it onto the card. A simple Birthday greeting from Birthday Wordfetti and that is all there is to this one.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is snss-scribble-flower-1.png

My next project is a mixed media ATC Coin. These little canvases are so much fun to work on and this little 2.5" circle has a lot going on.

I created the background with Distress Oxides and the smooshing technique. Using Archival Inks and the Typewriter Text Background, I added a little texture. Then I Copic colored the Flower and bee from Scribble Flowers. Finally, I added a sentiment from the Faith Wordfetti Set and that is all there is to this one. I really love it!

Butterfly

Happy Friday!! I have a bright fun card for you today. With all of the beauty that spring is bringing those warm days are starting to produce a few butterflies.

I have been in love with the Garden Whimsy set from day one and had this little guy colored up on my desk. This month, I am trying to use my stash of colored images and backgrounds to create actual cards (haha!) so I paired this image with the sentiment from the new digi set called Favorite Mom. This set has lots of great flowers and sentiments but the one I chose was so perfectly how I feel about my mom, that I had to use it on a card for her! She loved it!

The background is Distress Oxide on kraft - if you haven't tried that, you definitely should! I stamped the image with Archival Ink on top after the Oxides dried and colored over it with Polychromos pencils.

I hope you are inspired and have a great weekend!

Hugs,

Lyn

Psst....PS and By the Way, there is a sale going on this week for any images by Rebecca Rios, I am playing with some of them now and will post soon!

Congratulation Mr. & Mrs....

Today I have a CAS Congratulations/Wedding card using the new Mr. & Mrs. set. I had a kraft card front on my desk and decided to use it. I think next time, I will go with a white card but I do like it… I used a light gray ink and stamped the shoes and the Mr. & Mrs. to create a background. I lightly colored the shoes with colored pencils then added a banner sentiment.

Sweet and simple and now in my stash – I don’t need these very often but when I do, I rarely have one ready so this is kind of exciting!

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

BUNNIES, BUNNIES, BUNNIES!

Today I have a super sweet post filled with the cutest cuddliest... bunnies! Who doesn't love bunnies amiright? Sweet N Sassy has some truly adorable bunnies in both clear stamps and digital stamps....

FIRST we have this so cute little guy from this month's Hoppy Spring set. I inked him up on a Neenah Desert Storm card stock base, masked him, them covered the background with the new Textures 11 flowers using Versa Mark for a tone-on-tone look. I unmasked and those flowers moved to the background so I could color my bunny with colored pencils and have a one layer card.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is snss-background-bunny-copy.jpg

Next I have another clean and simple card, but this time, I didn't fill in the white space. (I did, however, die-cut and mount my panel for a little dimension :)) This card uses a new digi called Bunny Love. It comes with a sweet sentiment that I have used on many a project lately! I created my "card front" in a word doc with the bunny and sentiment placed just where I wanted them. I printed, colored him with Copic markers, and die-cut the layers - that is all there is to it!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is sumebunny-copy.jpg

My last project is a mixed media ATC (Artist Trading Card) that I created for a team swap. I used Distress Oxides on heavy watercolor paper to start my card. I added texture with Typewriter Text BG, Texture Tiles 5, and the new Grunge Dots Stencil. I created a word doc with a bunch of my images and sentiments from Valentine Bunny with Heart and Bunny Love respectively and had a fun day of coloring and fussy cutting. I added a little washi from my stash to "ground" my bunny and balance my ATC then glued my image and sentiment down... I signed the back and mailed off to my friends - SO MUCH FUN!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is snss-bunny-copy.jpg

I hope you were inspired today - HOP to it and go great something this weekend!

By the way, there are still a few more days to get in on the SNSS moving sale!
