Shabby Chic Cards

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy friends! It's Julee popping in with a couple of mixed-media shabby chic cards I created with the April release. This style is one of my favorite styles to create in.

For my first card I used the Country Garden set, stamping the jar of flowers an coloring with copics.  Next I stamped the sentiment on a 3x4" panel of cardstock and smooshed with squeezed lemonade, stormy skies, and chipped sapphire.  I then stamped partially with the Delightfully Delicate Background and Texture Tiles 1 sets for a little texture.  The flower pattern in the upper left corner is stenciled with embossing paste for a little extra interest.

The background for the card is a panel of designer paper that I smooshed with the same colors then sponged the edges.  I finished with a bit of ribbon and a little glitter on the image.

My next card uses a sentiment from the Friendship is a Blessing set. I started with some scraps of Prima paper, adhering them together, then lightly scraping with gesso to mute the colors a bit.  I then stenciled with a dot fade pattern in weathered wood distress oxide, adding sponging all around the edges.  A scrap of lace covers the seam of my two papers.

I used another scrap of paper for  the rectangle pattern, also adding a bit of gesso and sponging.  The sentiment is stamped onto a gessoed cardstock circle and then sponged and stenciled.  My finishing accents were a bit of wrinkled seam binding, some paper flowers, and an ephemera bird image.

For my card today, I'm sharing a sweet little birthday card featuring the Beautiful Birds set.  I  stamped the bird image on watercolor paper, then colored with watercolor pencils.  I then masked the image with a post it note and sponged antique linen distress oxide around it for the warm blow.  This is matted with kraft cardstock and popped up on a foam sheet over the background which uses the Typewriter Text Background stamp.  I then stamped the sentiment from Beautiful Birds in the bottom center and matted onto an A2 card base.

This fantastic card by Deeds uses the new In This Together Digital set.  Love the soft colors and pen detailing on those flowers. She used Texture Tiles 1 for the fun background. Just beautiful!

These beautiful notecards by Korin feature the Your Story set with it's awesome office style ephemera and the Print Blocks Alpha set.  So fun!

Korin also added a little surprise to the shop this month with a gorgeous new DIGITAL set.  In This Together has 3 floral images and 12 sentiments that are perfect for cardmaking during this stay at home season.

Shabby Thinking of You

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy friends! It's April and there's a gorgeous new release in the shop.

The new Country Garden set stole my heart with it's gorgeous shabby chic farmhouse feel, so I colored up this lovely chair image in a soft palette, opting for neutrals for my mats and background.

For the background, I stamped the previously released Delightfully Delicate Background tone on tone on stone (that's fun to say!) cardstock, then sponged around the edges.  I absolutely love this background stamp! I added a touch of lace from my stash and a few paper flowers to accent the sentiment circle, then finished off the card.
