Beautiful Silhouettes

I am so excited about today's cards! Sweet N Sassy's New Silhouette stamps are so versatile! You can create almost any background and compliment it with a silhouette! You really can't wrong with them!

For my first card, I went with a simple acrylic block technique. This card feels very masculine and I am too often short on these so... YAY!
  • I used my acrylic block and Distress inks for the background.
  • Then I used Nature Silhouette 2 and black archival ink for the ground/grasses, added a sentiment from Thoughtful Words  and added my duck from Scene Silhouettes Wetlands (This is the January Stamp of the month and it is FANTASTIC - you still have time to get it free with $60 purchase).

For my second card, I created a beach scene.
  • I tore some paper and  used it as a mask to ink up my beach line with Distress Inks
  • With the straight side of the paper acting as a mask, I added the ocean and sky - also with distress inks.
  • When that dried, I added details with shades of brown Copics and a white gel pen to get more realistic sands and waves
  • I added "beachy" birds from Scene Silhouettes Wetlands and a sentiment from Floral Greetings.

This is just two ways to use these awesome stamps! I hope they inspire you and I can't wait to see what ways you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by!

Your Kindness

Hello Everyone!  Today I have a card featuring the NEWLY released Through The Trees stamp set.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic Markers.  To keep this a gender nutral card I kept the design very clean and just layered in on an embossed background.  The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Words stamp set.

Don't forget that the Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands is the January 2018 Stamp of the Month and is FREE with a $60 order through 1/31/18.

Stop and Pray

{jane bosi}

Just a little reminder for this week:  Stop Drop and Pray!  The card above was a quick card and simple to create--just a little water coloring and some dry embossing.  If you are impatient, like me, you can grab the image in digital form too!

My second card also features the Stop, Drop and Pray image along with a Scribble Flowers background.  I heat embossed various images from the floral set on kraft card stock and then colored using distress inks and daubers--an whole different look for this great image!

Keep smiling and looking up, Jane

Spotlight on SNSS

Hello sweet friends!  I love the new stamp sets released by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps this month, but I still love some of the old sets as well.  Today I am featuring the new and the old with two cards I made recently.

This first card uses the new Through the Trees stamp set as well as the Scene Silhouettes: Woodland set and the Thoughtful Words set designed by Nina Brackett.

The scene was stamped twice with the help of my Misti...once on Neenah card stock and once on mixed media paper.  Intense Color Blocks were used to watercolor the mixed media scene and ODBD Pierced Circle Dies were used to cut circles from the top layer.  The sentiment from the Thoughtful Words set was embossed on the top layer as well.  The top layer was popped over the watercolored layer using foam tape.  The animals from the Scene Silhouettes: Woodland set were embossed and cut with my SanNCut.  They were also popped onto the card with foam tape.

My second card uses the old Precious Poppies and Floral Greetings stamp sets.  Unfortunately I needed a sympathy card for a friend who just lost her father and the poppies were perfect.

The poppies were gold embossed on Neenah card stock and watercolored with Intense Color Blocks.  Fossilized Amber Distress Ink was sponged through a TH Burlap Stencil for a little shading behind the flowers.  The sentiment is from the Floral Greetings stamp set and was gold embossed on a black banner.  A bow made with metallic gold thread and black pearls were added to finish the card.
You can find these new and old stamp sets at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.

Thanks so much of stopping by!  Hope you were inspired and until next time...happy stamping!
Hugs,
Cathy

No Words....

{jane bosi

Happy Saturday!  I popped by to share a card that features a few new goodies from the shop!  The sentiment, from Thoughtful Words, seen on the card front, continues to the inside and reads (in full) "No words can describe how thankful I am for you."  Wouldn't you love to find those words in your mailbox??

This year, I am determined to say the positive things I think.  We live in a world that is just too quick to point out the wrong, criticize or complain.  I'm doing what I can to focus on speaking the after thoughts of joy.

The central image on my card comes from the Through The Trees set.  I started by stamping the birch tree image on water color paper and then adding some sky and grass water colors.  I framed the tree image with card stock that I cut an oval out of and then added some stenciling.  I sponged some and then added a bit more with a paint brush--it got kind of splotchy, which I think looks cool.

After stamping the sentiment, I added a bird (a heron, I think--of the great blue variety?) from the January Stamp of the month set,  Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands.  It's kind of an earthy card.  A little out of my wheel house, but I dig it!

Have a great day!

A Friend Loveth At All Times

Hi Sweet Friends!

Julie here, today I am sharing an easy mixed media card using Majestic Monarchs along with Peaceful Peonies.

To create the background, I pulled out three colors of distress oxide inks, tapped them onto a silicone craft mat, spritzed lightly with water and placed a piece of white cardstock into the ink. I used a heat tool to dry the ink before adding each color, then spritzed lightly with black soot distress ink before trimming and mounting onto black cardstock.

The Majestic Monarchs butterflies were stamped using versafine ink onto white cardstock and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I used water-based markers to watercolor the butterflies before fussy-cutting each image and mounting them onto the card front.

I heat embossed the sentiment from Peaceful Peonies onto black cardstock with white embossing powder and added to the card front with dimensional foam.

The card was finished off by using a glitter pen for shimmer on the butterflies and a few crystal drops in the background.

Also, don't forget that the Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands is the January 2018 Stamp of the Month and is FREE with a $60 order through 1/31/18.

I hope I have inspired you today and thanks for taking the time to visit us- hugs and God Bless, sweet friends!

I'm Here For You

Hello Everyone!  Today I have a card featuring the NEWLY released Whimsy Bouquet stamp set.  I randomly stamped some of the floral images using Versafine Onyx Black in and then I embossed it with Fine Detail Clear embossing powder before coloring with copic markers.  I then added a sentiment from the Mason Jar Bouquet set.

And here's another peek at a card I shared earlier in the month that also features the Whimsy Bouquet stamp set.  For the sentiment on this one I used the Kindness Matters stamp set.

With Thoughts and Prayers

Hello! Today I want to share this clean and simple card with you. I love to use the silhouette stamps on CAS-cards. Sometimes you just want to let someone know that you're thinking about them and it's not the right time to send bright and colorful cards. This is a great solution.

I masked the area on the cards where I didn't want the ink and started blending two colors of blue ink into each other. When I removed the masking tape there's a nice strip of blue color in the background. I stamped the silhouettes on top of the blended area with black ink and a couple of birds above it. I really love this sentiment from Mason Jar Bouquet so I had to add it to this card. I added a couple of sequins to give the card a little bit more sparkle.

Dark Nights and Bright Stars

Hello sweet friends!  God uses the struggles in our life to make us shine more brightly for him.  As we go through these trials with grace Jesus gets all the glory!  I love this quote from the Inspirational Word Art 2 stamp set available at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.

A galaxy sky seemed the natural choice for a background for this quote.  Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink and Fossilized Amber, Picked Raspberry, Cracked Pistachio, and Wilted Violet Oxide Inks were sponged onto a piece of mixed media card stock.  The colors were well blended before Black Soot Oxide Ink was sponged over all of the colors letting some of the color peek through the black.  The panel was spritzed with water and sprayed with a mixture of Perfect Pearls.  Watered down white acrylic paint was then splattered on creating a night sky full of stars.  Spellbinder Dies were used to make an offset frame. Grass from the Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass stamp set was stamped on both the frame and the Galaxy panel.  The little fox from the Scene Silhouettes: Woodland stamp set was black embossed and cut out with my ScanNCut.  The sentiment is from the Inspirational Word Art 2 stamp set and was black embossed on a circle cut with a Taylored Expressions Stitched Circle Die.  A few sparkly gems and sequins were added to the sky to finish the card.  I'm also posting this card over at the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog.

The stamp sets used to make this card are available at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Store.  (**LOVE the new Scene Silhouettes stamp sets**)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Remember that our January Stamp of the Month, Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands, is free with a $60 order through 1/31/18.

January release cards

Hello! I am sharing a couple of cards with you today using stamps from the NEW January release.

For my first card I used Stop Drop Pray and Whimsy Bouquet. I just stamped, colored with Copics, and popped my panel up on a sheet of white craft foam. A few drops of Stickles were added to the little dots.

Here I used Through The Trees and Thoughtful Words. The trees were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and outlined with a light blue Copic marker. I tore the left edge and layered it over a punched scallop border. Then I added some ribbon with a few folds in it, securing it with Scor-Tape and a gold brad.

Next I used Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass, Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands, and Thoughtful Words. (Wetlands is the January 2018 Stamp of the Month!). The background on the circle was masked/sponged.

And my last card was created with Whimsy Bouquet (such a pretty floral set) and Thoughtful Words. A perfect card for getting a jump start on Valentine's Day! The floral images were colored with Copics.

Have a great day!

Hello, My Name Is...

Happy New Year all! I hope you had a wonderful 2017 and are ready for an even better 2018!

Today's CAS card uses the new clear stamp set Creative Worship: Hello My Name Is. I used the name tag in rainbow colors to create my background then went bold and black for the main tag. When it came to choosing the sentiment (name), It was sooo hard!

There are so many wonderful choices and they are such powerful reminders of who we are! Examples include: CHILD of the one true king, 100% FORGIVEN, CHOSEN no matter what, among others. I settled on LOVED beyond measure as it just made me happy. More will have to come soon for sure! Which would you choose first?

I hope you are inspired! Thanks for stopping by!

Hope You Are Feeling So Very Loved

Hello Everyone!  Today I thought I would share a couple Encouragement cards that I created with the NEWLY released Scene Silhouettes: Wetland Grass and Thoughtful Words stamps sets.  I don't know about you but I tend to struggle with making these types of cards along with Sympathy cards.  One thing I've found helpful is making more than one at a time with the supplies that I've pulled out so I can have a stash to be able to send when I need one.  You can either make a duplicate or play around with the supplies and come up with a couple different layouts.

For my cards today I pulled out some card stock, inks, embossing folders to add a little texture, ribbon, and some black pearls.  I find that using a monochromatic color pallet along with a gender neutral design also helps.  Hope these ideas will help you the next time you need to create this type of card.

Don't forget that the Scene Silhouettes: Wetlands is the January 2018 Stamp of the Month and is FREE with a $60 order through 1/31/18.
