When I reached for colors, I was inspired by the Pantone Color of the Year, Electric Blue. For the first card I masked off a rectangle and wet the open area with a paint brush. Next I swiped my oxide inks onto my craft mat. For these cards I used salty ocean, mermaid lagoon, and blueprint sketch. While the area was wet, I started plopping (that's the technical term! LOL) my colors into the water until I achieved the look I was going for. Then I lightly sprayed with water and blotted with a paper towel to give it a textured look. I embossed the quote in white directly on my watercolored panel, then matted onto an A2 card front.
After I was done, I still had leftover ink on my craft mat, so I decided to do a smooshed background. I took another panel of watercolor paper and swiped and dipped it into the ink on my craft mat, let that dry, then smooshed a bit more ink onto an acetate bag and smooshed some more. After a few repeat smooshing and dryings and then a few splatters of watered down ink, it was just how I wanted it. I finished off by embossing the verse in white in the center.
I think I could make these cards all day! I just love playing with watercolor and that crisp white embossing on top is just so satisfying!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulously creative day!
