Brotherly Love

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy friends! It's Julee popping in to share a couple of cards with you.  With Father's Day, (which also happens to land on my Father-in-law's birthday) coming up in a few weeks, I've had masculine cards on the brain.

Father's Day Card by Julee Tilman

I know a lot of people struggle with masculine cards, but I really like making them. Probably because I really like grunge... and a break from my usual embellishments.  This card started by building the man from Brotherly Love, then masking him off and overstamping with the Psalm 23 Background on designer paper.  I then colored the image with Copics and cut with a circle die.

The sentiment is created with the Messy Stamped Alpha and stamped directly on a piece of the same designer paper. I then chose another piece of designer paper for the background and grunged it up with stamps from the Texture Tiles 1 set.  I added a bit of sponging to all my panels, then finished off with dark brown mats and adhered to an A2 card base.

Next up, I stepped out of my grunge comfort zone and went for a more clean and simple look. I built the image, this time adding in glasses, a nose, and a mouth, then colored with Copic markers. I die cut this panel in a square and sponged tumbled glass distress oxide around the edges.  The thinking of you sentiment is from the Sentimental Mash-up set.  I then stamped a few sentiments from Sentimental Wordfetti, and embossed them in white on black cardstock to add my "thoughts" to the thinking of you card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this gave you a little inspiration for creating masculine cards.

The Armor of God

{jane bosi}  Ephesians 6  Starting in verse 10:  "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil....."

Keep reading my friends!!!  Such a rich word picture that is created for us and practical advice on exactly how we are to arm ourselves for the very real battles happening in this fallen world every day!  I can attest to attacks from the evil one.  He bombards me on the regular, but my God is stronger and has led me to His truths on which I can stand firmly!

I was so excited to receive my Armor of God set from the Sweet N Sassy Stamps September release, I couldn't wait to use it in my bullet journal (above).  It's the perfect addition to my journal and helps to keep me strong and focused on the promises of God!

I also used Armor of God and a few other goodies (His Wings, Brotherly Love, Girl Power and Mini Grunge Alpha) to create this sweet little prayer box:

It's just a mint tin, but who knew?  A great way to re-purpose what others might consider garbage.  I've created a small card which fits inside the tiny tin, but has plenty of space to record my specific prayer requests for those I am praying over.  I keep it right next to my bed and can go through each card at night or first thing in the morning.  Most prayers are never far from my lips, but I also like the tangible visual reminder.

Be blessed, Jane

great guys

Good morning! I am sharing some cards today using a Sweet ‘n Sassy stamp set, Brotherly Love, from the June Release. I also used Girl Power and Bitty Minnie Alpha. I paired the guys and girls on my first card to make a wedding card.

There are a few different hats for the guys in the Brotherly Love set. I turned one into a camo hat on my second card since we have lots of hunters in our family.

These sets are very versatile and although they were designed for bible journaling, you can see they are great for cards too.

Have a great day!

Happy birthday!

Hello everyone! Today I want to share this birthday card with you.

I used the Brotherly Love stamp set to create the image on the card. There are so many options! I love to fiddle around with the images and create a lot of different results. I stamped the image on marker paper and colored it with alcohol markers.

I cut out the image and die-cut a frame in my patterned paper. I made a tag and stamped 'happy birthday' on it with black ink. I die-cut the edge of the tag to match the circle in my patterned paper. I distressed the edges of the card and papers with a blue ink to tie it all together. And instead of my regular sequins I decided to use wooden buttons to finish the card. I thought this would give it a more masculine look than the sequins :).

Brotherly Love

Hi Sweet Friends!  Julie, here and today I am sharing a card using the brand new stamp set, Brotherly Love along with previously released sets, Through the Trees (NinaB Designs) and Long Stem Silhouettes.

Look at all of the fun images in the Brotherly Love set!  The possibilities of combinations are endless- perfect for all sorts of occasions (including Father’s Day, Birthdays, Anniversaries) as well as Bible Art Journaling!

To create this card, I stamped the images Brotherly Love onto designer paper along with white and chocolate cardstock (I used a retired blue/woodgrain type of paper).  I fussy-cut all of the images and colored the face and sunglasses with water-based markers (my husband thought that this looked like him- if he had a beard :-)).

After paper piecing the man’s image, I heat embossed the tree image from Through the Trees onto white cardstock and used a square stitched die before mounting it onto espresso cardstock.

I layered the additional designer paper and cardstock for the card front (adding the ribbon and pewter slide to the corner) before adding the heat embossed sentiment from Long Stem Silhouettes and the paper pieced guy from Brotherly Love  with dimensional foam.

I finished off the card with a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to his sunglasses.

This was such a fun card to create and I cannot wait to design more “guys” in the future- lol!!

Don’t forget, we have a brand new Stamp of the Month, Texture Tiles 2 free with a net $75 (US$ order after all discounts and before shipping) plus any net $75 US receives free shipping- woohoo!

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by! I hope all of you have a blessed week!
