Texture Tiles 4 (x3) - Bee Amazing!

Hi Friends!

Today I have some more fun projects using one stamp (well two really) from Sweet N Sassy creating three looks. The new Texture Tiles 4 makes for some great background and to tie my projects together, I added the bee from Sweet as Honey. Of course I have also used other sets (I will point them out as I go) but these are the focus on all of my projects.

My first project is a mixed media art journal page (in my 6x6 journal). This is my more complex project as it uses the most stash supplies and got me the inky-est :)

Recipe:
  • Background - Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap Melange; Distress Paint in Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon
  • Background stamps - Texture Tiles 1 using Archival Inks Manganese Blue
  • Splatters - White and Black Arcylic Dylusions
  • Corner texture - Tim Holtz Stencil with Black Modeling Paste (TCW)
  • Sentiment (big) God is For You Clear stamp set from SNSS inked with Gina K Black Amalgam Ink, (little) From Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker book.
  • Border Image - Texture Tiles 4 stamped repeatedly around the edges over and over.
  • Bee image from Sweet as Honey stamped with Gina K Black Amalgam and colored with Copics Y17, Y19, Y15 and W0, W1, W3, W5 (with Wink of Stella on wings)- popped up with foam felt and adhered with Multi Matte Medium
  • Highlights added with White gel pen

My Second project is a less complex and uses the four plaid tiles to create "quilty" look.
I used a circle stitched die from Simon Says Stamps and a Circle die from Spellbinders to cut out the image using the out of the box die technique. I added a foam dot under the bee's wings to make them look more dimensional.
Recipe:
  • For the Bee, I used a circle stitched die from Simon Says Stamps and a Circle die from Spellbinders. For the squares, I used square stitched die from Simon Says Stamps and a square die from Spellbinders.
  • Bee image from Sweet as Honey stamped with Gina K Black Amalgam and colored with Copics Y17, Y19, Y15 and W0, W1, W3, W5 (with Wink of Stella on wings).
  • Background Image - Texture Tiles 4 - all four stamped with Gina K Black Amalgam Ink on Neenah Solar White
  • Sentiment - So Thankful
  • My background paper is cut with A Jillian Vance Design Basic Polka Dot Die

My Final Project is a Clean And Simple card on kraft.
Recipe:
  • My rectangles are all cut with A Jillian Vance Design Basic and/or Polka Dot Dies
  • Background Image - Texture Tiles 4 - stamped with Versa Mark for a tone on tone look
  • Bee image from Sweet as Honey stamped with Gina K Black Amalgam and colored with Polychromos pencils. I stamped right on top of the plaid background and colored over it.
  • Sentiment - "Bee" from Sweet as Honey and "Amazing" from Bitty Minnie Alpha
  • I added twine and enamel dots then popped the center panel up with foam felt
I hope you are inspired - see how you can stretch your stamps by trying multiple ways to use it. And no matter what else you do, HAVE FUN!!

Thanks for stopping by!

God Is For You....

{jane bosi} Words of truth and wisdom right here, folks--coming straight at you from me and Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.  In this big world full of stress and strain the only thing, in my fifty--YES, you read that correctly--years that I hold to be true without a doubt is that God is for you.  He's for me, too.  I get lost and stressed and overwhelmed and sometimes forget where to put my eyes, but He's always there.  Patient, waiting, there.  It works like that for you too--a week, a year, ten years....a life time of looking away, He is still there.  Waiting, wanting, loving.

This super cute and colorful card features Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps new July release, Go God's Way.  I literally gasped out loud when I first saw this set designed by Diane Noble:

So much fun to be had with these great images!!  It also pairs great with the God is for You set--which I used for the sentiment.  Endless possibilities.

Have a great day being awesome!  Jane

God is Always With You - Distress Inks and Embossing Folder techniques

Do you have any crafty tools that if you were stranded on a crafter's desert island, you would have to have - no questions asked?? For me that is my embossing machine. I love my dies but I l-o-v-e, love my embossing folders! They can add texture and dimension to a CAS card giving it movement but still keeping it simple. They are versatile in the techniques you can do with them and they are fairly inexpensive. It is one of my favorite things for card making.

Today I used my embossing folders and created 2 different cards. I used distress oxides on both sides of the folder for a stamp/stencil look and a debossed look. I used a honeycomb embossing folder, and paired it with the bee from the Sweet as Honey Stamp Set. The nature theme of the background made me think of the sentiment "God is Always with You" from the God is For You Stamp Set so I also paired it with my cards.

For the first card ...

  • Lightly tap Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides randomly over the inside/FRONT side of the folder (this is the side that typically has the brand stamped on it)
  • Spritz it with water
  • Gently lay the the watercolor paper on top of it
  • Close the folder and allow the color to soak into the paper for a couple of minutes
  • Take it out of the folder and sit it aside to dry.
  • While I didn't press hard enough to emboss, you can do so even running it through your machine. However, it squeezes the color out a bit and I wanted a more "crisp" image (water color-y crisp if that makes sense?)
  • I heat embossed the sentiment onto the card with bronze power (If you emboss the background, you can't stamp it directly to the card...)
  • I heat embossed the bee as well and water colored it, fussy cut it, and adhered it with glue dots (three high under the wings for dimension)

For the second card...

  • Lightly tap Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides randomly over the inside/BACKside of the folder (this is the side that does not have a brand stamped on it)
  • Spritz it with water
  • Gently lay the the watercolor paper on top of it.
  • The backside usually has more space to cover so it isn't' going to be crisp, therefore, this time I close the folder and run it through my embossing machine
  • Take it out of the folder and sit it aside to dry.
  • I heat embossed the sentiment onto a separate piece of paper with black powder and mounted it onto the background.
  • I heat embossed the bee as well and water colored it, fussy cut it, and adhered it with foam dots.

You can definitely see how different each card is and yet you use the same simple tool and basically the same process for both. What do you think? What is your favorite versatile tool?

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Hello friends! Just a quick post from me today, sharing another brand new Sweet 'n Sassy stamp set, God is for You. The new set features six encouraging sentiments that can be used to mix with any type of images or designs.

I broke out my brand new Zig Clean Color Watercolor Brushes for this project. (Ohhh...I'm so excited about these markers...they rock!) I started by stamping and embossing a few flowers from the Lovely Lotus stamp set with white embossing powder. Once my embossing was cool, I colored the flowers and background with the Zig markers. The sentiment and dragonflies were stamped in black Archival Ink and the panel was mounted on black cardstock. Pretty simple card, but those great Zig colors pack a powerful punch.

Be sure to head to the Sweet 'n Sassy store to check out all of the new products and to take advantage of the Beat the Winter Blues sale...save 30% off of select products! Enjoy!

Stand Tall - God is With You!

Today I have a couple of cards using Sweet N Sassy new release images.
My first card uses the Stand Tall Clear Stamp Set. I stamped my image on watercolor paper with Versafine Black Onyx, embossed it with WOW clear powder, and colored it up with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Watercolour Brush Pens. I used some Papertrey Ink Design Paper and that as they say is that!snss-stand-tall-valentine
Now I have another Valentine to send - I love to send them to all the kids in my life! It is so much fun! Do you send Valentines?
My second card is a very quick Clean and Simple card using a sentiment from the God is For You Stamp Set (definitely seeing a set of these in the near future.) I think that these sentiments on just the small cut out would be fun to stamp up and give to my Bible Journal friends... Hmmm I think I will get right on that!! What do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

God is Always With You

Hi all!  Angel here and I'm so excited to be guesting on the SNSS Blog this month!  My card features the newly released God is For You stamp set.  It's a very sweet sentiment set, perfect for so many occasions.  I watercolored a background with a few different inks, then ran it through my machine with an embossing die.  Since that background layer turned out so cool ;-) I decided to only add some twine for extra embellishment.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be sure to check out the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps store to see ALL of the new sets!

HUGS,

Angel
