You Inspire Me ~ Flourish

With a "flourish of creativity" I created this 8x8 layout of my parent's holding hands. The picture explains the title of my layout, my Parent's love and devotion for each other is truly inspiring and a blessing!

I embossed the butterfly flourish to frame my image using versamark and white embossing powder. Next I layered the designer paper onto the base and began "building" my layers that I prepared in advance. I embossed another cardstock using the same flourish and inked the edges with a coordinating ink and stamped the word You. Taking my black and white photo I "direct to papered" using Ranger's vintage photo distressed ink. Stamping directly on the photo with versamark, I carefully embossed the flourish again to match the design beneath it. I embellished it using our heart dies and seam binding ribbon that was heat set to give it a vintage look.

You Inspire Me

This is one of the first cards I made with the fabulous You set, designed by Dina Kowal for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  I really, really love how this card turned out!  I inked up each sentiment, stamped it once on scratch paper, and then stamped it on my card stock base.  That way, the colors were not too dark.  I stamped the large word you in the same way, and tied some twine around the top - that's it!  Simple as can be :)

Love You!

Hello! Giovana here with a Love card for you today. Last week I taught this card at church, a group of ladies got together and had fellowship, we laughed and talked and then we got creative. I showed the card in 2 colors and the Red card base was the winner :)
For this card I used the "Love You!" saying from Love from Rhurbarb Set, the kraft piece was die-cut and embossed using Circle Dies and I stamped the flourish image in half of the circle. I used the cute image from You Set.
I decorated my card using a piece of PP and the Heart Scallop Border Die, I also die-cut a big felt heart, I really love this heart shape :)

I added a paper flower and some ribbon.

Beautiful Backgrounds

Hello friends!  Hope you all had a marvelous Super Bowl weekend!

Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has done it again...the February release was fabulous!  The collage images and silhouettes are perfect stamp sets to be used with many wonderful background techniques.  So I grabbed my distress inks and some alcohol inks and started playing around.

For my first sample, I used two new Sweet 'n Sassy clear stamp sets, "Rose Collage" and "You."  To make the background for the beautiful Rose Collage stamp, I started with a piece of white card stock and crumpled it up...just bunch it up into a little ball...the more creases, the better!  Flatten it out and rub a distress ink pad over the creases.  I used Spun Sugar on my sample.  Then spritz it with water so the ink begins to spread and run. Use an old iron or a craft iron to help dry the card stock and flatten the paper even more.  You can leave it as is, or sponge on more color.  I decided to add some Scattered Straw and Antique Linen. When you are happy with the results, stamp your image.  A few torn edges, distressed ribbon, paper piercing, and pearls finish the card.  What do you think?

For my second sample I used the lovely "Morning Glory" clear stamp set.  The background for this card was made with glossy card stock and several alcohol inks.  Begin by choosing several colors of alcohol ink.  I used Stream, Wild Plum, Lettuce, and Gold.  Put two to three drops of each color unto a felt applicator, adding just a drop of the metallic gold last, and dab the ink onto the glossy card stock until it is covered.  Add some alcohol blending solution to the felt applicator and continue dabbing onto the card stock.  The more blending solution you use, the lighter the colors become. Continue until you are happy with the results.  You can stamp an image directly on the background with a permanent ink, or use it as a background panel as I did here.  I hope this makes sense to you, but if not, visit Tim Holtz's blog to see a video tutorial on both of these beautiful background techniques.
