Tuesday Tip - Layered Designs

 Tuesday Tip - Layered Designs

Diane has another stencil tip for us:
"
Make multiple layers with your stencils or background stamps and cut or tear to layer them."

Diane shares: "First, I brushed ink on three pieces of white cardstock using three colors of ink, varying the combination of colors. Note: I traced the edge of the cardstock with pencil onto my scrap paper and taped the top of the stencil down so that all three pieces were stenciled exactly the same. If you have a sticky mat for this purpose, that might help."

"Next, I tore the edges of two pieces as shown below and layered them together. You will have two pieces leftover for another project."

Here’s the finished background.

Tuesday Tip - Dryer Sheet

Tuesday Tip - Dryer Sheet

Esther shares a tip for using dies with lots of tiny pieces: "Place a dryer sheet under your paper when die cutting intricate designs."

Not only does the dryer sheet help the design to fully cut out, but it also catches quite a few of the tiny pieces so you don't have to punch them out manually.

Tuesday Technique - Adding Dimension

 Tuesday Technique - Adding Dimension

In today's blog post, Esther shows us how to add a bit of dimension to our images.

For the butterfly, she stamped the image twice, fussy cut the wings of the butterfly, and glued them over the original image.

For the flower, she stamped the image twice, fussy cut a second flower, snipped between each petal, and popped it up with dimensional tape over the first one.

Tuesday Technique - Partial Stamping

Tuesday Technique - Partial Stamping

Diane created this sweet anniversary card by stamping only the top portion of our new Snow Family stamp and omitting the bottom section that includes a baby snowman.

She also shares a second tip for framing her image:
To create the black shadow behind her image, she die cut the frame again two more times with black cardstock. One was cut in half vertically and the other horizontally.

Then the pieces were moved sightly apart to layer underneath and create a black shadow behind her original frame.
