2019 Cat Lovers Blog Hop

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy friends! We're excited to once again be sponsoring a prize for the 2019 Cat Lovers Blog Hop. It's a hop to celebrate cats of all sizes and shapes during the last full week in October, since National Cat Day is October 29.

There is a large list of sponsors, and prizes for both commenting and participating by linking up a cat themed challenge on the Official Cat Lovers Blog Hop Post. We're one of the sponsors being highlighted today, so if you want to check that out, here's the link to our spotlight post.

We have a couple feline loving sets in the shop I thought I'd highlight today.

The first set is the Paw-some Pals set, which has some canine friends as well, but the kitty and mice images are so cute!

My card for today features the adorable kitty from this set.  I gave her a little toy mouse friend, because my cat, Moka, drags her little mouse toy everywhere she goes. They are constant companions.
Card by Julee Tilman features Paw-some Pals.

The second set is the sweet Kitty Love set, filled with lots of lovely cat silhouettes and some super fun sentiments like Proudly owned by a cat! Love it!

Card by Julie Gearinger featuring Kitty Love

We also have several digital cat images you might like to check out. Here's a darling card made by Korin featuring the Valentine Kitty Digi.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We hope you're "feline" good!

Be Encouraged

Hello sweet friends!  What a fun week we had celebrating Korin's Birthday.  We hope you enjoyed the special birthday discounts and entering the contest for the free giveaway!  Because of the overwhelming response, it may take a little while to compile the list for the random selection, but be sure to stay tuned…we will be announcing the winner of that fabulous gift bundle soon!

I do have two cards to share with you today!

The background was made by covering an acrylic block with Peacock Feathers, Abandoned Coral, and Candied Apple distress inks and spritzing them with water before pressing them onto a piece of Bristol Board card stock.  The Long Stem Silhouettes image was stamped on the background after it dried.  A sentiment from the Be Encouraged 2 stamp set was white embossed on a piece of vellum and stitched to the card.  Black thread was used to frame the sentiment.  Prills were added to the center of the flowers.

This second card was for Korin's birthday…we know how much she loves her fur babies!

The paw prints from Kitty Love were white embossed on Neenah card stock and sponged with Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, and Ground Espresso distress ink.  The sentiments are from Kitty Love and LOL Cats and were white embossed then stamped again with Jet Black Archival ink.  The kitty in the middle is from the Valentine Critters stamp set and was cut with the matching Valentine Critters Die.

Thanks so much for stopping by…have a wonderful weekend!
Until next time…happy stamping!

Hugs,
Cathy

A Little Autumn Yet in November

Hello SNSS friends! In case you've missed it, Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps is celebrating their 8th birthday all month long!  Be sure to keep checking Facebook and the blog for samples, give-aways, and promotions! You can also follow us on Instagram: @sweetnsassystamps
Currently SNSS is offering 25% off all dies with the code BDAYDIES25!

Today we are taking a look at the beautiful Autumn Mum Greetings Stamp Set. I think mums are like a breath of fresh autumn air, for after all of the summer flowers are winding down, up come the mums in a beautiful array of colors. I happen to have purple mums in my yard, so I chose to color mine that way for today's card:
This set has a gorgeous font, with some beautiful sentiments included. I stamped both the flower and sentiment in Archival Black ink, and then used my Koi paints to color the flower.

I love this Stanley Horowitz quote, and thought some designer paper with script would match the idea of someone saying such beautiful words.

There are matching dies, as well, so it makes cutting a breeze. You can find those HERE. I also made a quick watercolor bookmark with this set. I stamped the smaller mum with distress inks, then sprayed the paper and let the colors run.

Once dry, I added the mum and sentiment again in a dark brown and tied on some fun fibers.
A little about me:
Although we are originally from Arizona, my husband and I currently live in Central Nebraska with our water turtle (we have had him for twenty years!) and our sweet Lab/Jack Russell mix, Fiona (not named after Shrek, but because she is white and Fiona is Gaelic for "white" or "fair".). We have two children, who live way too far away from us - one 750 miles west, and the other 1350 miles east. Sad! We are the proud grandparents of a two-month old granddaughter, and are so thankful for Face Time!

1. How long have you been a fan of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps? I honestly don't remember when I became a customer, but it was in Korin's first year of business! I have been a member of her Design Team since January of this year.

2. What do you enjoy outside of stamping?

I love going on junk jaunts, finding interesting things to photograph, and I love traveling. I also spend quite a bit of time at the theatre, either as an actress or director. Currently I am playing the Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol, which opens in a week, and will be directing To Kill A Mockingbird in the Spring. My kids, even grown, are my number one priority.

3. What is your "day" job?

My husband is a Professor of Philosophy at the university here, and I work part-time in our community theatre Box Office.

4. Who inspires you?

I find inspiration through nature and color, mostly. I have several stamping friends that inspire me, and I would be amiss if I didn't throw Pinterest in there. However, it is the artwork of the particular stamp sets that really inspire me to create.

5. Share a fun or interesting fact about yourself that most people might not know.
I sang for the Pope at the Vatican when I was 15 years old. And I don't know how to swim!

6. What advice would you give to a new stamper?
Find what you love, and stick with it. Make things that make you happy, and do more of that. And don't compare your creations to other stampers'. Just love what you do.

7. What is your favorite SNSS set?
I love the Puppy Love and Kitty Love stamp sets. Animals are a huge part of my family's lives, and I am a big animal advocate. Here are a few elegant and cute cards made with those two sets:

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my U.S. friends!

All you need...is a cat...

Hi there, friends, and welcome to the weekend!  Today I'm sharing a card I created with one of our newly released stamp sets...Kitty Love!  I am such a fan of silhouette images and now we have a silhouette set with cats!  Yippee!

My card started with lots of layers...one dry embossed, one covered in wee little paw prints, and a bunch of others that are there simply to add color!

My main panel started out life as a piece of cream cardstock.  I used a blending tool and Distress Ink to cover a large portion of the cardstock in Scattered Straw ink.  I then put a large circle mask over the cardstock and added more Distress Ink colors...Rusty Hinge and Wild Honey.  I then used the Typewriter Text background stamp to add a little bit of stamping inside the sun.  (You could mask off the background so the text image won't get on the rest of the card, but using acrylic stamps means you can bend them to stamp only where you want the text.)  The cat was stamped on cardstock and cut out.  I also used Distress Embossing Powder in Black Soot to add some texture to the cat.  The Distress Powder just adds texture, without adding shine.

To finish the card, I used foam tape to attach the cat, stamped the sentiment, and added the heart.  (The string holding the heart was hand drawn)

Enjoy and  have a great weekend!

Kitty Love Sneak Peek

Hi everyone!  Kim here today to share just the tiniest of sneak peeks for tonight's big March reveal party!  The party takes place on the Sweet 'n Sassy Facebook page at 8 pm (EST)...don't miss it!

I figured that today I'd give you just a taste of one of the newest stamp sets, Kitty Love!  Cats and love...they just go together.  And this is coming from someone who said she didn't like cats...and then Simon came into our lives.  He was our neighbor's cat that decided he wanted to live with us.  We talked it over with our neighbors and they agreed that he was a better fit with our family.  That was four years ago and we have no regrets.  In fact, I think that he might be the best cat ever!

The Kitty Love set is full of darling cat silhouettes, doing all sorts of things...looking regal, being playful, or seeking a good napping spot!  Also included in the set is all sorts of greetings...some cat-themed, some not.  This set is going to be a favorite for a long time to come!

I simply stamped one of the cat silhouettes in Watering Can Archival Ink on cardstock and cut out the kitty.  I created three yarn balls using twine and double sided tape.  Everything was attached to a dry embossed piece of cardstock, backed by a bold teal color.  A great CAS card...and hopefully one that makes you want to stop by our reveal party tonight to see the entire set!  And stop back by tomorrow for our big blog hop, where the design team will show off all of their creations!  Enjoy!
