Merry Christmas

Happy Wednesday everyone and thanks for taking the time to visit the Sweet 'n Sassy blog. It's Mary Marsh here and this is my last post as a design diva for Sweet 'n Sassy stamps. My 6 month term has quickly come to an end and now I move to alumni status.

It has been an amazing experience to design for Korin's company. I pray for continued success for her & Dan in their venture.

For my card today I used the Christmas Light and Light of Christmas stamp sets.
These 2 stamp sets are so versatile. They can be used in a variety of ways and without a stamped focal image. And that's what I am showing you today.

I used the background stamp (Light of Christmas set) and stamped it in artichoke ink directly onto my designer paper. The Merry Christmas (Christmas Light set) sentiment I stamped in cherry cobbler ink and layered on a spellbinders fancy tag 2 die.

I cut one of the large poinsettias from the designer paper and popped it up for dimension. I used some cherry cobbler ribbon and cut a holly leaf and added to the bow center.

Hope this long holiday weekend will be a relaxing one for you. We are celebrating Columbus Day on Monday here in the U. S., and Monday is also Thanksgiving Day in Canada.

My card for today is using the Sweet 'n Sassy set "woof you".  Isn't he just the cutest puppy?The card colors were determined by the photo on our weekly inspiration challenge. Here is a link to get all the details in case you didn't know we have this Tuesday challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

I colored my puppy with prismacolor pencils and gamsol and paper pieced his bandana. I added some puppy paw buttons that I had in my stash to complete my card.

I am using the just released set "Christmas Light" designed by the amazing Dina Kowal. This set has a matching die. Can that make card making any easier?

I water colored my image and then popped it up on a lacy circle die. My sentiment is also from this same set and it was stamped and then embossed. I used gold metallic paper so the embossing helped my red ink to show up a little better.

I used another new die on this card. It's the Cheery Lynn "lace light" border die. Korin is now carrying dies from this company in the store. They cut with such great detail. I used a maraschino cardstock to cut the border and the circle.

My striped designer paper is something I have had in my stash for years. I couldn't match it up with just the right paper. Today it all worked. Love it when that happens-don't you?

I had the right gold paper to layer it and the green card base is Bazzill "ivy" . The maraschino was just the shade of red to work with the green.

Frame It Part 3

It's Mary Marsh here and today is my turn to do the blog post.

I have just returned from a fabulous week on the North Carolina shore. So I am quite anxious to get back to creating.

My last 2 blog posts I have done cards that I have titled "frame it".   See those posts here and here.

I love taking a sentiment stamp and use dies, embossing folders, patterned paper and ribbon to frame the card. So I decided to continue with that theme again this month.

I used the cuttlebug embossing folder "scroll works" to frame the sentiment from the new set "season of change". This set was just released this month. It even has a matching die. I love the versatility of this set.

Instead of patterned paper I chose metallic cardstock in chocolate and cream. I punched some leaves from copper metallic paper and added a few rhinestones for a little bling.

My ribbon is some that I recycled from a fall wedding shower a few years ago. I liked the coppery shimmer and the fall words printed on it. I thought it worked great with my card today.

Frame It Part 2

Happy Thursday and welcome to the Sweet 'n Sassy blog. This is Mary Marsh and today is my turn to cover the blog post.

Hope all of you are enjoying the lazy, hazy crazy days of summer. I sure am.

Last month when I posted to this blog I did a "frame it" card. See that post here.

I wanted to show you how you can take a sentiment and frame it with dies, patterned paper and ribbon to make a card.
I decided to continue with that theme this month. I like using dies and showing off the pattern in my paper. So often it gets covered up with lots of layers.

I used the scripture sentiment from the "joyful heart" set. This set was part of the July release.

Since this scripture reads of the joy in the Lord's presence, I wanted my card to reflect that. I used a bold & bright patterned paper from BoBunny. I added some ribbon, buttons and pearls to complete my card.

Frame It!!

This is Mary Marsh and it's my turn to post on the blog. Today I am showing a card that I have titled "frame it".

I am using a sentiment from the rose blossom set that was released just this month.  This set has a beautiful rose image as well as 5 sentiments.

I wanted to show you how you can take a sentiment and frame it with dies, embossing folders and patterned paper to make a quick as well as beautiful card.

I added some ribbon and a button center with bakers twine. The twine is now available in the Sweet 'n Sassy Shop. This one is pink sorbet.

I cut one of the roses from the patterned paper and used it on my sentiment frame.

Mary Marsh here posting for the first time as a design diva for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I am so excited to be a part of this talented team.

The card I want to share with you today uses a sentiment from the new clear stamp set "Let Go, Let God. The set contains 5 sentiments. The one I chose made me think of a ship or boat.  So I went with a nautical theme.

Since I didn't have a boat image I decided to make one with various punches. I used a 1 3/4" round punch for the boat body.  For the sails I used a  1 1/4" square punch and then cut the square in half. I made a similar boat on this card

For my waves I used a slit punch and then I sponged the tops with white ink to make it look like white caps. I used foam squares to give the waves some dimension and allow my  boat to sail in between the waves. The wave idea came from this card.

I found this rainbow patterned paper in my stash and I thought it was perfect for my little scene. God's promise is in the rainbow. He will guide us through any storm.
