You're a Star!

Hello Sweet Friends!

We are so excited for this special month of November here at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps celebrating EIGHT YEARS! The DT Divas are sharing Daily Throwbacks with you all month long here on the blog, and over on our Facebook page, to help celebrate!

Today I am re-visiting Stars Die Set:

...and I have a cool shaker card for you:

The background was made with various distress ink daubers (Tim Holtz). The shaker stars are filled with sweet little stars and micro beads.

The greetings came from You're a Star and Ticket Sentiments clear stamp sets.

Be sure to scroll down and read Korin's previous post all about the birthday fun, and then head over to Instagram (@sweetnsassystamps) and Facebook so you don't miss a thing!
Thank you for stopping by,
Monika

Clear Acetate Card Tutorial

Hi Sweet 'n Sassy Friends!

Jenny here with your weekly tutorial.

First I thought I would share with you a corner of
my studio while it is still reasonably messy free.
This is where I do most of my creating.

I'm one that prefers to have my most used supplies
around me for inspiration and convenience.
I also like to start each project with a clean desk area...
doesn't always happen that way though :)

Today I am showing you how easy it is
to create a clear acetate card.

It's been a long cold winter around here so
I went with a cheerful Spring theme for my card,
using the Happy Happy stamp and die sets and
Ticket Sentiments stamp set.  You could
also use airplanes, hot air or birthday balloons
(anything airy) on your card.
For the card base, I used a clear acetate
folded card measuring 5 x 5 1/4  by Hero Arts.

A list of all the supplies I used are
below this post with convenient links to shop.

Begin by stamping and then die cutting your
images with colored card stock or designer paper.
I used dye inks for the sun and kite and a
Brilliance Pearlescent ink for the cloud.
You will also need to cut three more of each image
in white, or if you prefer, in the same colors.

Arrange and adhere (I used a tape runner)
colored card stock images
to the front on your card.

I stamped my sentiment next.
You could also do this before
adhering images to your card base.
Next I glued on some twine "kite string".
I like the added dimension and the
look of it trailing below the card.

Now you will notice when you
open the card the tape is noticeable,
and we don't want that.  So starting with the very
back of your card, adhere the same images.
Super easy to see where they go by following the
layout in the front of the card.

Next do the same for the inside.
Now your card will have a nice finished look
without any glue or tape showing.
This is also where you can write your message.

Finally, using a white Staz-on Ink,
(pigment or dye ink will not adhere to acetate)
I stamped a smiley face from the Happy Happy set
and stars from the Ticket Sentiments set.

Here is how my card looks closed.
Notice that you don't see the other
images on the inside and back.

Here is my bright and cheerful clear
card displayed open on one of my
 bookshelves in my studio.

I just love how unique and fun
clear cards are.  I'm keeping mine
in my studio for now as a reminder
that Spring will eventually arrive!

Hugs,

Jenny

Fun With Images, Dies, and Numbers

**Looking for our Christmas in July Blog Hop?  Check out this post for all the information on our Christmas stamp sale, new sets available for purchase, and details on how YOU can play along with us!**

Hello! It's Monika here today, bringing you a butterfly card. Hopefully you are not tired of them yet. I just can't seem to put my New Beginnings clear stamp set and New Beginnings Butterfly die set away!  A must have in every craft room if you ask me!

As you can see, I used a number of stamp sets along with the butterfly: Nature Silhouettes, Kindness (quote), Vintage Postcard (5c), and Ticket Sentiments. Don't be afraid of mixing up your images. It's so much fun to play around with the different sets and styles.

Other than stamps, I also love playing with dies... and Sweet 'n Sassy now has a nice selection of fabulous dies that are made in the USA. I used the brand new Decorative Plaque dies along with Pennants & More (ticket), and Heart die set.

My favorite way of using the butterfly image is stamping it on vellum, and on regular card stock (after die-cutting the images). The 2 layers are just perfect together.

The little ticket tag slides out and it can hold a special message. I just made sure that I didn't glue the coral panel and plaque down all the way.

The fun sketch came from The Sweet Stop, SSS 168. We have a spin on our sketch this week: fun with numbers (I dry embossed my background designer paper with a Tim Holtz/Sizzix plate and brayered brown ink on top)... and we also have a PRIZE! Check it out!

Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your weekend!

Get Well Soon...

Hello! Monika here today with a shabby style card. I hope you enjoyed our May release blog hop  last week, and the fabulous new images! Nature Silhouettes clear stamp set is one of my favorite sets this month.

I also used Music Background, Ticket Sentiments, and Vintage Postcard clear stamp sets.  The small circle and banner dies are from Pennants & More die set. It's fun to add those die-cut elements to any style and type of projects.
The background came from an old book. I just had to rough it up a bit with some paint splatters and spritz, and with sewn and distressed edges. I also used some cheese cloths. It's very inexpensive and adds a nice texture.

I love doing challenges, so the color combination came from ColourQ Challenges #136, and the perfect came from Mojo Monday #240.

Hope I inspired you to make something today!

Thanks for visiting,
Monika

Celebrating Rhubarb

Hello Sweet 'n Sassy Friends!  I LOVE new releases and last Thursday Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps released six fabulous new clear stamp sets PLUS matching dies, so today I decided to celebrate...with that most adorable bear...Rhubarb!  The card I made for today is a Tri-Shutter Card and the tutorial for this fancy fold can be found over at Splitcoaststampers under the resources tab.

The front of the card features Rhubarb from the new Rhubarb's Birthday Wish clear stamp set. Rhubarb is colored with copic markers and the balloons were given a coat of Glossy Accents. The patterned paper is from the BasicGrey Lauderdale Paper Pad. Do you see those stars and the star border? The Stars Die Set has four different sizes of stars and the star border is included in the Hearts & Stars Scallop Border Die Set!  Can I just tell you how much I LOVE Sweet 'n Sassy dies...they cut like butter!

This is a picture of the back of the card.  The banner in the middle section was made with the new Pennants and More Dies.  The tickets are made with the new Ticket Sentiments clear stamp set.

And here's the whole card opened up.  I had so much fun decorating this card with some of my new stamps and dies. I hope I've inspired you to check out the new release and to try a Tri-Shutter card of your own!  This is the day that the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it...and maybe find some time to do some stamping! Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Cathymac
