Fun with Embossing

Hey there!! I'm so excited to share today's card! First because I get to show off two of my all time favorite Sweet 'n Sassy stamp sets and second because I get to share an embossing technique that I picked up at an online class last week!

I've been embossing for years (the first time I learned how to emboss, I embossed anything I could get my hands on! LOL!) but I confess that sometimes I tend to only emboss the same 'ol way. When I attended an online class last week, I learned a few quick and easy tricks, like embossing with clear powder on top of a printed paper. I puffy hear this look!!

Once the image, grass from the Serene Silhouettes set, was embossed I covered the entire piece of designer paper with Distress Inks and then buffed the excess ink off of the embossed area. Cool, huh? And then...I embossed this little butterfly, from the Flowers in Bloom set, with black embossing powder. To color the butterfly? Another fun trick...Add Distress Ink to a craft sheet and include a small dab of Perfect Pearls. Mist with water, grab your paint brush and paint away! The finished butterfly has a lovely pearl appearance...very, very cool!

Since the front of my card didn't include a lot of space for a sentiment I decided to add a small piece of the designer paper to the inside, along with a few stamped image and the sentiment. Oh, and the sketch is this week's Splitcoast sketch challenge!

Hope you enjoyed today's card and why not give some of these embossed techniques a try!!

Candle Light

Hello, it's Bridget here - I love the warm, cozy glow that a candle brings, especially on the darker fall and winter evenings! This candle is from the set Christmas Light which was designed by Dina Kowal, and it was Dina herself who suggested to me the idea of covering the holly and berries with flowers so that it could be used any time of the year. I thought it was a great idea and ended up actually cutting the holly away and adding a sheer bow and rose.  However, if you chose not to cut the candle out and left just the tips of the holly leaves showing, they would look like any other type of leaf!  If you like being able to pop the candle up with dimensionals, the best part is that you don't have to fussy cut the candle like I have, because Sweet and Sassy have a Christmas Light Candle Die to make it easy on you!  I also used the background stamp Light of Christmas, covering only a part of the stamp with ink to give an uneven edge to the script.
I inked only the last four lines of the sentiment and left out the line which says "This Christmas".
I distressed all the edges, colored the candle with copics, and added Stickles to the candle flame for a bit of sparkle.
I hope you've enjoyed this variation on using these wonderful Christmas sets!
Other supplies include:
My Minds Eye Stella and Rose Mabel dp
SU Early Espresso cardstock
Champagne pearls
Spellbinders Nestabilities Circles Small
Ranger Distress Frayed Burlap ink
SU Soft Suede ink
Recollections flower
Organza ribbon

Rhubarb's Christmas

Hi, happy Wednesday! It's Harriet here and it is my day to share here.  I just received my Rhubarb's Christmas card kit, the September Kit of the Month from Sweet 'N Sassy and I was excited to use it. I have never purchased a card kit before but besides loving the Rhubarb stamps, I really liked the Bo Bunny paper that was included.  Buttons, ribbon and twine were also included in the kit.
I stamped Rhubarb with Memento ink and colored him with Copic markers.  I paper pieced the ribbon and cut him out with an oval Nestability.  The sentiment is also from this set.  I did my own thing for the sketch but the kit does include five samples that you can make with the kit supplies and then there is still more paper and embellishments for even more cards!
Thanks for coming by!

Rhubarb's Harvest Blessings

Hi!  It's me, Krissy and I'm back again today with another Rhubarb card.  I love this little guy from Sweet n' Sassy Stamps.  This little bundle of love is from the Rhubarb's Autumn Joys stamp set.  It is the cutest set and I have had so much fun working with it this month!  Not only are the images adorable, there are a bunch of great sentiments included also.

While I'm here I have to thank Korin for giving me this opportunity to work with her wonderful stamps.  And thanks to Taylor for taking a chance on me and asking me to be a Guest Designer for the month.  Just because my month is up, that doesn't mean this is the last you'll see of these great stamps - Rhubarb will be back!  He's just too cute to resist!  Hopefully, he will soon be joined by more of his friends from SNSS.  I'm hoping to add Rubarb's buddy Cocoa to my stamp collection soon.  That little mouse is just so stinkin' cute!

That's all I have for you today, friends.  I hope you'll take time to get inky today and that you'll kick back with a cup of tea and take a look at the Sweet n' Sassy Stamps website.  I'm sure you'll find many stamps that are calling your name.  Korin has done a beautiful job designing the stamp sets, there is a great selection and she has included some really great sentiments.  Her scripture stamps are beautiful and so many of them are on my ever-expanding wish list.  What better way to spread The Word than with a gorgeous stamped card?

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.  Take time to get inky today.

All About the Blues

I'm all about the blue today, with two fun cards to share!  Today's Clean and Simple challenge over on Splitcoaststampers is all about paper piecing.  I'll take any excuse to bust out my favorite teapot set, Tea Time, from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps!  I kept my layout super simple, and used some fun polka dot paper by Pink Persimmon.  The inside sentiment reads: "Teapot is on, cps are waiting, favorite chairs anticipating... No matter what I have to do my friend, there's always time for you." LOVE it!
I made this a couple Fridays ago for the Free for All challenge over on Splitcoaststampers - it was to use mostly blue. Easily done - I adore blue!!  I paired the cute Little Boys Toys set with the fab Blast Off paper by Bo Bunny. My sketch came from the amazing Wendy Jordan - I totally stole it right off her blog!

Supplies (teapot Card):
Stamps: Tea Time (SNSS)
Card Stock: Blue Bayou (retired) (SU), Black (Recollections)
Patterned Paper: Bayberry Cottage (Pink Persimmon)

Be sure to stop by DJ's blog <<< HERE >>> to see her wonderful cards.
Great card DJ and thank you for using our Sweet 'n Sassy stamps.

Curious Christmas Puppy

Hi, hope you are enjoying this 2nd day of Fall. I love this time of year when the leaves are changing and everyone is buying up those mounds of Christmas gifts to beat that last minute shuffle that happens on Dec 24th.
I have a darling and precious image to share with you today.  This set is called "CHRISTMAS PUPPY" and can be found at SWEET 'N SASSY STAMPS.
This little guy just tickles my funny bone. He has jumped into Santa's boot. Now just tell me how is Santa going to deliver all of those toys if he can not get his boots on?

I used copics to color the time and stamped the sentiment in Lady bug Red ink.
My layout is from Wednesday's SKETCH CHALLENGE over at SPLITCOAST STAMPERS website.  Have you been to SCS yet?  Did you know that Sweet N Sassy is now a member company? Well they are.  Go check it out.

My color combo comes from today's INSPIRATION CHALLENGE # 303 - Creature Comforts from this INSPIRATIONAL COLOR COMBO.

Sadly this will be my last post with SNS as my term ends this month (insert pout here).  I have enojoyed these months and appreciate Korin for all she does for the love of God and this fabulous hobby I am so addicted to.

RECIPE:
Stamps: Christmas Puppy
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Lady Bug Red
Paper: Vanilla, Basic Gray-Oxford dp
Accessories: Red & Green Bakers Twine

Cocoa's Christmas

Today I would like to share a card with you using the brand new Cocoa's Christmas which was released on the 15th.

I colored Cocoa with copics and used silver stickles on the garland and star. I stamped the sentiment with Black Staz-On onto my pleated ribbon. I thought that would be something new for a different look. I think it looks kinda cool.

Close up

Here is a look at the inside. I used one of the sentiments in the set along with some Michaels bridal flowers which I colored with my R37 copic marker. I then added a dot of silver stickles in the centers.

If you have not already done so, stop on over to the Sweet N Sassy stamps website to see all of the fabulous stamps, paper, and dies that are new to the store.

Have a wonderful day!

Altered Art

Hi!  It's Cathy once again, and it's my turn to share an idea here on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog!  Something fun and challenging to do is to take something old, something used, or an inexpensive item and transform it into a piece of stamped art.  I thought I would share an idea that's been around for a long time.

This project began with the card.  The lovely titmouse image was released in August and is one of many bird images at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps...if you like birds, you will need to check them all out!

My card is a CASE of this beautiful Thinking of You card by Linda (AKA morningsun47), the featured Stamper on SCS this past Sunday.  The titmouse image is colored with copic markers.  The layout was kept pretty simple although I did add a few layers and some Baker's twine.

The little Post-It note holder was made from an inexpensive acrylic photo frame purchased at Michaels.  The stamped image slides into the frame where the photo goes.  The Post-It pad is sticky taped to the front of the frame.  A little ribbon loop adhered under the note pad holds a matching, beaded RSVP mini pen.  The pen was made by running a piece of BasicGrey DP through the Xyron and rolled around the barrel of the pen.  A piece of Scor-Tape covered the DP, and this was rolled in tiny mico beads.  Easy-Peasy...but it makes a nice gift set, don't you think?  Hope you've been inspired to try a little altered art for yourself!  Thanks for stopping by and come back again tomorrow for some more inspiration!

Merry Christmas

Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking the time to visit the Sweet 'n Sassy blog. It's Mary Marsh here and my day to post on the blog.

I am using the just released set "Christmas Light" designed by the amazing Dina Kowal. This set has a matching die. Can that make card making any easier?

I water colored my image and then popped it up on a lacy circle die. My sentiment is also from this same set and it was stamped and then embossed. I used gold metallic paper so the embossing helped my red ink to show up a little better.

I used another new die on this card. It's the Cheery Lynn "lace light" border die. Korin is now carrying dies from this company in the store. They cut with such great detail. I used a maraschino cardstock to cut the border and the circle.

My striped designer paper is something I have had in my stash for years. I couldn't match it up with just the right paper. Today it all worked. Love it when that happens-don't you?
I had the right gold paper to layer it and the green card base is Bazzill "ivy" . The maraschino was just the shade of red to work with the green.

Well, I hope I have provided you with some inspiration today. It's time to get a start on your cards for Christmas and our release this month can help you do just that. Check the entire line here.

That's it for me so until next time..........God bless

Thankful Rhubarb

Hi!  It's me, Krissy, again!  I have been having so much fun working with these adorable Rhubarb images.  He is just the cutest little bear!  Sweet n' Sassy Stamps just released a bunch of beautiful new stamps and other goodies - be sure to check out the website to see the latest additions to their collection.  I can tell you my wish list is growing and growing!!!

This card was so much fun to put together.  I actually used supplies I still had out on my table from my last project.  Can you believe that I didn't even have to trim the patterned papers down?  They were already the perfect sizes - I guess it was all meant to be!  I'm not sure yet who this card is for, but I'm sure someone special will love to see this cute little guy waiting for them in their mailbox.

Well friends, that's all I have to share today.  I hope things are well in your corner of the world and that you take time today to not only get inky, but that you will listen to Rhubarb and take time to "be thankful".

A Festive Little Christmas Treat Box

Hi everyone!  Julia here posting a sweet little Christmas Treat Box for you today!  I purchased this little oval wooden box at Michaels and cut patterned papers to fit the top and sides.  I glued them on with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive (love that stuff it dries SO fast! I get mine at Michaels).

Then I adhered some delicate narrow lace (from Joanne's) around the rim of the cover with Scor Tape letting it extend below the cover edge.  I overlayed that with this pretty plaid ribbon, again using Scor Tape.
I stamped the sentiment and cut it out using a Trio Label from Spellbinders.  I popped that up with foam tape along the front of the box and added some rhinestones.
Then I stamped Rhubarb, colored him with Copics and popped him on the box cover with foam tape.  This sweet little box is about 2" x 3" and will fit maybe 10-12 Hershey Kisses -  or you could use it for a gift of barrettes, jewelry (!), or any small treat!

A pretty way to give a small gift to someone don't you think??!

Thanks for stopping by the Sweet 'n Sassy blog today!

hugs,
Julia

Customer Spotlight Sunday

I hope today is a BEAUTIFUL Sunday for each of you!

Today we are back with our Customer Spotlight Sunday and I have TWO great cards to share with you!
In the customer spotlight we are featuring Sharri of iStamp4u!

Sharri created both of these pretty cards from our Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps set, Wildflowers.  She used so many  beautiful colors and great embellishments!  What I love the most about these cards is that she used the flowers as a solid color and let the rest of the card bring the colors into it.  It gives a vintage feel with the newspaper print behind them on the second card!

Be sure to stop by Sharri's blog <<< HERE >>> to see her wonderful cards.
Great cards Sharri and thank you for using our Sweet 'n Sassy stamps.

Rhubarb's Autumn Joy

Hi all!  My name is Krissy and I am so excited to have been chosen to be a Guest Designer for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps this month!  Korin has really great stamps to choose from, her images are so cute and she has chosen beautiful sentiments and scriptures to accompany them.  Take a few minutes and take a peek at their website.

After checking out all of the stamps she offers, I finally settled on this adorable bear!  Meet Rhubarb....isn't he just the cutest?  This image and sentiment are from a set called Rhubarb's Autumn Joys.  The set includes three images and a great assortment of sentiments for Fall.  You'll be seeing more from this set this month.  Stay tuned!

I had so much fun working with this image.  This card is already in the mailbox, waiting to be sent to my Aunt Kathie for her birthday.  In fact, Aunt Kathie was the reason I chose this stamp set - she loves teddy bears and I thought this Autumn set would be perfect for her September birthday.  I don't know about you, but I am so ready for Autumn.  I'm really looking forward to cool days, a hot cup of tea and a cozy sweater.

Well friends, I better get going.  I hope all is well in your corner of the world.  Take time to get inky today!
