Blizzard of Hugs

Hello Sweet 'n Sassy Stampers!
It's Ceal, here to share a couple cards with you for my last post of the year. I can't believe that it will be 2020 on Wednesday.
The first card uses the adorable set Winter Hugs. I stamped the igloo, masked it off and then created the background. I used the trees out of the Thrill of Hope set.

My second card is a CAS card that can be used for Valentines day which is another holiday I love making cards for.

I used the Cheerful Snowmen set and colored it using Copic markers.

Hope

{jane bosi}  I could start a regular creative feature where I show you how I resurrected some project after a major mess up or goof!  I'm telling you, Sisters (and Brothers?) I painstakingly water colored this faithdex card.  And, I loved it!  The florals from Happy Irises are fun to color!  It was going to be fabulous.  I was proud of it.  I couldn't wait to share it.  Just one last step--add the sentiment from The Future set....

I may have CRIED. OUT. LOUD.

This is not an optical illusion or fuzzy computer screen--this is the real deal.  I was just about to start over, when that little creative voice whispered--fix it.

And, just like in real life, the Word came to my rescue.  I pulled a page from a thrift store bible straight out of the sermon my pastor preached that day--about Hope.  This little project is a great reminder of how God works with our broken pieces.  Battered and torn though we may be, He uses it all for His glory.  And, Hope came down so we could be restored.

I will hope in the character of God.  His plan, His provision, His love, His will.  Let it be.

I finished the backside of this card with more iris images and stamps from Typewriter Block Alphabet and Trust In The Lord.

In Him, Jane

Let it snow

Hello everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas time. I still want to keep the 'winter' feeling for today's card so that's the theme I'm going for.

I used the little snowman from 'Snow Much Fun' and colored it with alcohol markers. I die cut a piece of paper and stamped the message on it with a blue ink. I love the lettering for this sentence! I added a little blue border to the die cut paper with the same ink pad.

I realized I didn't have any real 'winter' patterned papers so I looked for papers with matching colors for the image (you could make your own winter background with some of the snowflake from the set too, just wasn't thinking about that at that time).

The snowmen in this set are so cute they don't need a lot to make a great card!

I hope you're inspired to your own cards :)

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Today I have three cards to share with you. I decided to use up backgrounds I found on my desk - mostly from last month's fun with Folk Art Snowflakes and Snow Much Fun. Then I inked up and Copic colored all of the adorable critters from this month's Winter Hugs Clear Stamp Set. I also used the sentiments from this set as they were so perfect for my cards.

For my first card, the background was from when I practiced some ink blending with Distress Oxides (Shaded Lilac, Hickory Smoke, and Black Soot). Squee - the sweetness!

For my next two cards, I created some dimensional hills with a stitched border die. For these backgrounds, I used Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concord, and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide.

For this last card, I also added some background trees using the Thrill of Hope Set - I love this silhouette set! I added some snowflake buttons to finish my card.

This was super fun and these critters make me so happy!! Aren't these polar bears so so so cute!

Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Hello Sweet Friends!  We here at Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps would like to wish you ALL a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!  We are super exited about the up coming year and can't wait to share all that we have in stored for you in 2020!!

***THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU***

I thought that I would share a CAS (Clean & Simple) New Years card I created with the recently released Christmas Wordfetti stamp set.

I used minimal supplies and papers from my stash to create this card.

  • You will need an White A2 Card Base (4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2") and a white layer measuring 3 3/4" x 5".
  • First I stamped the splatter using the Tiny Textures 1 stamp set with gold ink.  Then I stamped the Happy New Year sentiment from the Christmas Wordfetti stamp set in black ink.
  • Next I cut out 3 stars using various sized dies and punches. (Black & White Stripe, Gold Glitter & Black Glitter).  I then attached them to the card with a foam square for added dimension.

Winter Hugs

Hi sweet friends! It's Julee popping in to share a few new creations with the ADORABLE Winter Hugs set. Seriously, could these polar bears and penguins be any cuter? I think they'd make for some sweet little Valentines, too. (And now I have to go try out that idea! 😄

I started with these sweet little penguins. They are the happiest little dudes, don't you think? I colored them with Kuretake Clean Color Real Brush markers, which seem to be my medium of choice of late. I've had them for years, but am just now actually taking the time to get to know how they work, which is entirely unlike Copics! Anyhow, I used a glitter brush pen to blend them out, so they are SPARKLY! Once I was finished, I fussy cut the images, then hand trimmed a little slope from white cardstock for the snow bank.

Next I worked on the background, sponging tumbled glass, faded jeans and chipped sapphire inks, then dripping on some water and blotting off.  I then stamped the snowflakes randomly in the background and intended to emboss with white embossing powder, but accidentally pulled out the clear instead.  I do like how it turned out, though. The clear picked up on soem of the lighter blues and left a nice iridescent sheen.  I finished with the sentiment embossed in white (got it right this time!) and then layered it all together and added a few grey shading areas with copics to the snow.

My next card was super simple.  I found a pad of paper at Michael's a few weeks back that had polar bears and penguins, so I just cut a piece of that donw to card size for the background.  Next I used a journaling card from prima, rounding the corners and matting with silver cardstock.  I then colored the sitting polar bear and fussy cut to pop up and finished with a bit of silver cord. Easy breezy beautiful!

Well, that's all from me today! I h ope you have a super day! Thanks for stopping by!

I created this fun mixed media card for a teenager using the Vintage Love set. I smooshed some shimmery watercolors for the background, splattering black all around, then randomly stamped the music notes in the background. The radio from Vintage Love is watercolored and then fussy cut to pop up on dimension.  A few chipboard embellishments and a sentiment from the Keep in Touch, Too set finishes things off.

Korin created this delightful card with the Happy Camper set. Don't you just love those party banners?

Guest Designer Marie Nicole created this darling card with the polar friends from Winter Hugs. So adorable! Such a sweet little shaker card!

Winter Friends

Hello All!

The countdown to Christmas is on!  Are you still making Christmas cards?

Today I am sharing a couple of cards that can be Christmas or general winter cards.  The first one uses the brand new Winter Hugs Stamp Set.

He is just the cutest!  I colored him with Copics, using the pointillism technique to give him a bit of a warm, fuzzy, baby penguin look.
The background was actually a reject from a prior project.  I stamped snowflakes from the Folk Art Stamp Set in Versamark ink and heat embossed them in white.  Then I used the Smooshing technique to add pink and red color to the background.
Snowy hills, a sentiment and a few sequins finish it off.
This next card uses some oldies but goodies stamp sets.

I started with the line of trees from the Thrill of Hope Stamp Set.  I used my MISTI to get perfect placement and did second generation stamping in red ink.  I stamped the larger two trees in the same red ink, again using my MISTI so I could get good coverage of ink.
Next, I stamped snowflakes from the Thrill of Hope Stamp Set as well as the Snow Much Fun Stamp Set in grey.  Lastly, I stamped the deer image in the Thrill of Hope Stamp Set in Versafine Black, using the MISTI to get solid ink coverage.
I was inspired by some of Korin's recent cards to use patterned paper and do some layering; this was difficult as it is not something I do often anymore!  I do like how it turned out though.  I added a sentiment strip across the bottom, heat embossing several sentiments from the Christmas Wordfetti Stamp Set in silver ep.  Some embellies and a linen thread bow finish it off!

That's it for me!  I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I will see you back on the blog next year!

Folk Art Snowflakes

Hello Sweet 'n Sassy stampers!
It's Ceal, here today to share some cards from one of my favorite snowflake sets, Folk Art Snowflakes. This set has some of the prettiest snowflakes around and if you know anything about me, you know I love anything related to snow.
I am doing a 25 days of Christmas Inspiration series on my blog, so be sure to stop by. Because I have been so busy this holiday season I need to make cards that don't take a lot of time, so both of these were super quick and easy.

The first one I started with a white top folding card base and a white panel. I stamped the pine branch from the Christmas Pines set and then colored it using Copic markers. Next using a stencil I created the background. To finish the card, I stamped the ornament from the Deck the Halls set and also colored it using Copic Markers and the added an embossed snowflake in the center.

The second card just used the stencil from my stash and the large embossed snowflake from the Folk Art Snowflakes.
The greeting is from the Warmth of Christmas set

A blizzard of hugs

Hello everyone! You might know that I love cute images so the Winter Hugs set is a great set for me 😀.

For this card I colored one of the penguins and one of the bears with alcohol markers and cut them out. I had a patterned paper with little penguins that was perfect for these cute images. So I decided to die cut two circles out of patterned papers with similar colors and to create a couple of layers with patterned papers behind the images and the stamped sentence. I love layering on cards but I'm still learning how to use it on my own cards.

I hope you're inspired to create!

To God Be The Glory

Today I am playing with the December Stamp of the Month: Sympathy Morning Glories Clear Stamp Set

I have two projects for your inspiration. I wanted to show the versatility of this set so I tried for a more somber card with color pencils and a brighter Bible journal card with water color

The card is on Neenah Dessert Storm cardstock with Polychromos color pencils. I just love this look - the color pencils just jump off the page!

The Bible Journal card on Canson XL watercolor paper using Arteza Watercolor pencils, Distress Inks and a white gel pen to brighten up the centers:
I also added two of the sentiments from Faith Wordfetti and then I "smooshed" some Distress ink on the page with Philippians 4:20: To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen....It all just seemed perfect to me. What do you think?

These were fun to create and I loved trying out different inks on them! I hope you are inspired.

Thanks for stopping by!

Morning Glories

 {jane bosi}  Happy Thursday!!

Today, I'm sharing a goof-stake that I made AND how I fixed it!!  It's a true study in collecting stamps--even those you are not always sure how you will use!!  Above, you see my finished card which features the SOTM, Sympathy Morning Glories.  I water colored the images and background and finished it off with a subtle text image from Texture Tiles 1.  But, this was not my original plan!

Below, you can see what was supposed to be the finished project.  Notice the dark smudge right above "Deepest"?  It made me sad, but later after using the texture tile stamp, it was like I planned it all along!

The lesson I'm sharing?  Stock up on those texturing and background sets. You never know when or how you will need them, but you will!  Hoard all the things and let your creativity and goof ups guide you to try something new.  Cover it up, cut it out, be creative!  Merry Christmas!!

Be blessed....He takes our broken pieces to create a masterpiece for His glory and our good!  Praise Him!  Jane
